Ian Broudie\The Lightning Seeds\Philharmonic Orchestra put on a great show last Friday in the Philharmonic. There were guest spots from Miles Kane, Mac, The Coral and Terry Hall.
Mac seemed drunk to me and did his old shooting out the lights routine, a couple of attempts at kicking stuff into the audience (a bottle top that went nowhere and a plastic beaker which went slightly further), a bit too much rambling on (some of it mildly funny) and his voice wasn't that good on the two Broudie produced songs they did (The Back of Love & The Cutter).
The worst was the encore when he came back on with Broudie & Terry Hall to do Lou's 'Perfect Day'. He mumbled through it, sounded like he didn't know the words and for the parts that Terry Hall sang he kept trying to move his (Hall's) mic back (not sure what he was doing to be honest but if I was Terry Hall I'd have been pissed off with it).
Apparently the entire gig was filmed - he (Mac) needs it played back to him!
I don't normally post anything negative ("WTF are you here then" I can hear you all saying!).
Hope he sorts himself out for next month's Philharmonic gig!
