A marriage of convenience. How unfortunate when such talent is ignored.

I think it's pretty clear that Will isn't really into the band anymore except for the money.

Unrelated but does the album cover look like a bunch of chewed up gum? Maybe that's what it is.

isn't that the same for both of them? but atleast they're releasing new albums and not living off their glory years still like many many bands

Their live shows are mostly the same greatest hits list over and over again. I don't want to judge their motivations for continuing the band, if it's for money it's for money, I just wish the music they were putting out was better. It'd also be cool if both remaining members had equal input.

I think they should follow the Psychedelic Furs model and tour like crazy with little or no new material being released. No one is buying tickets to hear the new material and people are not exactly lining up to buy the new albums either. It's just been the law of diminishing reruns since Evergreen hasn't it? Let Mac do the new stuff under his name only and release it via Pledge. I just feel all this watered down stuff is a black eye on the bands real and great legacy.

I fear a Fountain II here. However, I really want to be wrong about this.

I agree, simply for monetary reasons he won't release this under his name. I think the Bunnymen's legacy and reputation with the first four albums is still untouched in relation to the newer material simply because a lot of people haven't heard the new stuff or don't care, not to mention it's not really the same band. But I think if they keep releasing mediocre dad rock and it piles up that might change. It's hard to tell at this point.

I've said it before though, I don't understand why they just don't try some more experimental stuff if they are going to keep recording music, it's not like there is anything to lose and you know Will would be up for it.

Might as well be, Mac in another 20 years, not sure that's a pretty picture.
