i think we need to agree a numbering scheme on bunnymen before we decide if we have to like the output. Noel era is generally regarded as as Mk II, which would make evergreen era Mk III - but that's really MKI revisited (this is questionable depending on whether any of the drummers has been as reliable as the drum machine) and Pete era is MK II following on from mini-pops era, making noel era Mk III. Thus current buns lineup (The Lord McCulloch & Sargeant plus ever-rotating supporting cast) is Mk IV. If you're suggesting Poltergeist is MK III its really MK V - though if we say that, saying a band by a different name is really the same band - we migth have to acknowledge 'fixion as Mk IV, making current Mk V (or possible Mk VI) and poltergeist as Mk VI (or MK VII). Which brings us back to the footy analogy, you pick your team and thats it for life whoever is the centre forward, and if its not one of the top four premiership teams, more of the vauxhall conference I suspect, then you don't feel obliged to like it but you still turn up now and again hoping for a bit of artistry no the field.
