Donna Summer

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Donna Summer

Just saw Donna Summer died. I Feel Love was a great song.

I remember Mac mentioning her on that picture disc interview.

Oh no, RIP. I still listen to her from time to time, like I did when I was a teenager. Will listen tonight as a hommage for sure.

Maybe she left her cake out in the rain too long?

Stupid?! It was fucking brilliant! And I love Donna Summer. I'll put on some tunes in her memory as well.

Judging from the odd time sequence of the above posts, perhaps Kook was referring to a quip you will make in the future.

Giorgio Moroder gave us I Feel Love and New Order (Sumner) wanted that synth sound.

With the passing of Donna Summer, we here at Death and Taxes decided it was a great time to celebrate one of the late 20th century’s great collaborative music relationships: Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder. Summer the diva and Moroder the Italo Disco emprasario. Of course, producer Pete Belotte was also an integral part of this winning disco formula.

Their music influenced early House, Techno and New Wave, particularly the Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principle song “Your Love” and New Order’s “Blue Monday.” Traces of Summer and Moroder’s “I Feel Love” can even be heard in something as icily gothic as Ladytron’s “Destroy Everything You Touch.”
