That Killing Moon Audi ad created a bit of a buzz in the US, I've seen many references to it online and on Sirius they were talking about Mac's tour dates and new album after playing Killing Moon on 1st Wave. They specifically mentioned the LA show. This is probably the most I've heard about the Bunnymen in the US since Evergreen.

classic bunnymen career trajectory. name one time when an opportunity existed and they didn't do the opposite of what any normal career planning band would do. oh i know, lets tour the hebrides to a few sheep and thos loony fans thatll go anywhere, oh i know, lets have a year off, america? oh i know, lets go tour scandinavia in a van and be our own support band, best selling album of ours ever? Tracks on all those american teeny films? oh i know, why dont i go solo and bitch about the rest of the chaps for thirty years or so. in a way its kind of funny but you'd never get to make the movie unless it had a happy ending- see one of those anywhere? ANyway there might be a really really sad reason for it and then we'll feel guilty and VB will tell us off.

Yep. U2 is breaking America by touring there non-stop for 2 years? Let's do 2 weeks! Evergreen has made us big again even in the US? Let's kick Will and Les to the curb for the next album!

Tours of the Hebrides, being your own support, secret gigs (shine so hard), events rather than another album launch i.e. crystal days, they were the reasons why I fell in love with the Bunnymen and a good indicator as to why they were different to 'other' bands.

True there was all that uniqueness that set them apart but they still could have made better management decisions at times.

Hahah
That is like the 20 something bartendresses reaction at The Lucky PIG Special near Broadway when she asked who our rowdy group was going to see.

Bartendress around 23: "Who you be going to see tonight?"
One of us rowdies: "Echo & The Bunnymen!"
BA23: "WTF is that?"

Bunnymen fans like their bands unsuccessful, and they also like to mock said bands for doing the things that led to said condition.

Though to be fair and balanced we also mock the success of others such as the fat Irish bloke.

It more of a blank stare. It was the same reaction I got when I told my co-workers I was flying to NYC to see E&tB to meet people I only knew from the internet.
