Echo & The Bunnymen - Royal Shakespeare Theatre
Stratford-upon-Avon, England, October 23, 1983.

C-90 Cassette [purchased in 1983] > Cool Edit Pro > Wav Files > Free Audio Pack Converter > Flac Files > uTorrent.

Audience recorded live recording, quality relatively good considering age and technology used.

Notable for the fact that comedian and actor, Hugh Laurie, now world famous but then relatively unknown, appeared during 'Villiers Terrace' dressed as Hamlet (complete with skull of Yorick) and recited the song in a mock Shakesperian actors voice.

01 - Intro (Gregorian Monk Chants) & Over The Wall
02 - A Promise
03 - The Cutter
04 - Heads Will Roll
05 - Crocodiles
06 - Silver
07 - Stars Are Stars
08 - The Killing Moon
09 - All That Jazz
10 - Seven Seas
11 - Burn The Nose Off (early title of My Kingdom)
12 - Rescue
13 - Nocturnal Me
14 - Heaven Up Here
15 - Ocean Rain
16 - Villiers Terrace (ft Hugh Laurie as Hamlet)
17 - All My Colours (Zimbo)
18 - Thorn of Crowns

This is the matinee show. Chris Adams says: "Mac seemed tentative and reticent, and frequently sang out of tune"

During that evenings show: ""...the Bunnymen were in murderous form, and surged through the performance, which had the same set list as the matinee, in reverse."

Anyone have the evening show that they would be willing to share?

it was me myself, yours truly, who uploaded this after lovingly encoding from a tape i bought just a few weeks after the gig. i was always after the evening concert but never found one - i guess the recordist was the only bootlegger in attendance.

as for the gig, i didn't go, even though i lived about 15 miles away - it sold out very quickly and i did not know about the afternoon show [no internet, etc, in those days, just the n.m.e. and word of mouth.

i was gutted to find afterwards that tickets were available on the day :p[

The difference between the two shows was how drunk Chris was.
"He was a mongoose, rather like a little cat in his fur and his tail, but quite like a weasel in his head and his habits."

I would submit that this was likely a third-person account, or an account based on listenings of the bootleg recordings.

I doubt Chris was in the UK in 1983
