We do not SIT at gigs, esp. EATB! Once again, glad that it was a golden night!

I would also love to hear how tonight's gig went--it has been my experience sometimes that Gig #2 in the same venue the next night is not quite the same. Hopefully the curtain issue was resolved!

I was there, I thought it was great. I'm not a great fan of the first two albums, I think they hit their stride with the third, but I very much enjoyed the gig. The sound was good, the room was almost full (upper balcony closed) and quite a few moshing.

I liked the encores best. . (sacrelidge, I know! but it's only my third Bunnymen gig and I likes the hits.)

Lips Like Sugar
Dancing Horses
Nothing Lasts Forever ("here's a classic. . it's saved someone's life!")
Killing Moon
The Cutter

Sung a bit of Beatles during Nothing Lasts Forever as I recall. Elvis' 'Suspicion' was played before they went on. I thought that was cool.

No heating, no draught beer, just overpriced cans. No running water in the toilets to wash your hands, and no soap anyway even if there was. Welcome to Liverpool, eh?

Very good concert though. The lighting was a bit silly (oh look, aren't they mysterious. . ) but the music was spot on, that's what mattered. [/s]

There's a clip on youtube of the recent shows and one of the comments is along the lines of: "Great show, I'd love to see them do a greatest hits set". It beggars belief I tell you.

Sounds like Dr Cheese has re-acquainted with a lost love.

I had my faith reaffirmed on Saturday yes, it's nice to know they can still pull it out of the bag if they choose to do so. Saying that they can fuck off and shite if they think I'll be attending another tired "greatest hits" show any time soon.

Same feeling Dr Cheese. It's clear to me though from the encore and Mac's comment that for him it is the best bit means that the same greatest hits set is here to stay. So it's not really reacquaintance is it - personally that side has never gone away as I still listen to Crocs and HUH frequently and these have emerged as my favourite albums by this band - that meant I had to see them do these albums live and had a feeling that they'd deliver terrific performances.

I think it would be folly to get hopes up that things will change out of the band performing two of their best albums and keeping it near to the original recordings. Besides, many thought it would be different after the Ocean Rain tour and what did we get, probably the worst album they have released to date as well as an even shorter greatest hits set.

Did you stay for the chicken giblets in a cup mini encore though Dr Cheese?

Did they play The Cutter? I left before the end Of Killing Moon as I knew the fog was going to be like soup on the drive home.

Did they get a new drummer for this tour? I don't remember the drummer in recent years ever playing the drums lines with character of the way they were originally played.

Couldn't tell you, it was difficult to see who was playing in the smog but it looked like the silhouette of Mac's hair and sounded like Will's guitar.

Yeah I stayed till the end and you're right, the mere fact that they thought they had to throw in a few "greatest hits" at the end tells me the next tour will be Mac sleepwalking his way through the usual jaded set list. I quite enjoyed The Cutter to be honest, but the rest of the encore, meh, I could quite happily never hear Killing Moon or NLF ever again.
