I never blew any of the Beatles. I did, however, lick a George lookalike's drooping penis.

It was actually a threesome with a Paul lookalike _AND_ a George lookalike.

Poor Ringo lookalike - left all alone to beat his own drum (out of time, mind you)
And John lookalike - didn't give your piece a chance.

Sad. Very sad.

Ringo was actually a gifted drummer.

So was the guy he replaced.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Paul McCartney played drums on USSR, Ballad of John & Yoko, Why Don't We Do It In The Road?, and Honey Pie.

Paul actually wrote most of the drums parts, from what I understand, and showed Ringo what he wanted him to play. Paul went in, supposedly, and often re-recorded Ringo's parts without him knowing for fear of upsetting him.

This doesn't make Ringo a bad drummer - just Paul's role in the drum parts is often unrecognized.

When asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world, John replied he wasn't the best drummer in the Beatles.

Thank you Mr Gambaccini, our musical education is considerably enriched by your wisdom.

That makes sense, actually. For all hos peace and love, John was one of the angriest men ever in rock 'n roll.

Just as long as you don't start reciting the psalms and 'times tables'.

since he wrote half the songs, and presumably wrote the melodies and whatever, its not surprising he knew what he wanted the drums to do - in the same way he knew what he wanted strings to do and then george martin would sort it out, so presumably ringo did what was wanted - which was pretty much the job of the drummer in those days. It was only Moon and Bonham broke the mould I think in terms of 'pop/rock where drummer becomes more than keeping the beat. Whatever ringo was the right drummer for the beatles. Whether he was technically the best is fairly irrelevant, they wouln't have been the beatles without him - sum of parts and all that - evidence: maccca and lennon's solo careers.

If anything, it makes him a very good drummer in that he was able to understand Paul's perspective and directions and play what was needed.

He was into T. Rex which makes him okay in my book.
