I was at that gig, it was my first Bunnymen concert, great night. Support band were superb Primitives (I had a "thing" for Tracy Tracy at the time). The Bunnymen were excellent, I think the gig had been rescheduled from about December '87 after Mac injured himself on the US tour. From what I remember the lighting was much stronger than they are now, Pete and his drumkit surrounded by hundreds of little lights so the band were much more visible than they are these days. The gig was released on CD by Windsong as it was one of the BBC's "In Concert" series.

This thread is a celebration of me. Nobody wants to hear your little anecdotes.

It's fully uploaded BTW

I did all the UK gigs that January including the legendary Glasgow Barrowlands Concert, which the band claimed was their finest ever show.... And I have to say that these dates were the best I ever saw the Bunnymen play, I don't know if they knew the end was near so they wanted to go out on a high, but my god the were brilliant that tour.....

Also the stage set was based on Roman Columns in the background and Pete was at the back on a Drum Riser instead on being on the lip of the stage..................

wasn't that with the roman columns and whatever on the stage? I was at the wembley arena show round about the start of the tour and its not that they were bad but just looked a bit lost, and the sound a bit cowshed-like. I think the floor level was only about half full and meanwhile the good old ticket sellers had sold all the seats down both sides so what looked like a front row on the ticket was about as far away from the stage as you could possible be. The review in the guardian (or whatever) said something like (and i remember the actual incident) 'only the bunnymen could get away with something so amateurish as a roadie walking on stage with a lit cigarette and havng to poke the singer in the ribs to get his attention'. ah, good old peasey.

Also went to the rescheduled bradford gig and that was probably one of the best one I've seen.

Love that picture of the tracey bird thats on the back of the album they brought out about that time and in a 'you had to be there' related incident my girfriend of the time's brother was going out with a girl with exactly the same fashion/hair sense. so we went... oo thats..., like I say. It seems they have finally resolved their miusical differences (the primitives that is) and playing at the zodiac (soory, refuse tocall i the 02) in oxford sometime soon - might go along and see if she's aged gracefully. and if so...... oo matron etc.

Still "Lovely" from the recent interviews I've seen.

And your girlfriend's brother's girlfriend at the time FC, well did you?

wouln't have dared VB. The then Mrs FC could read my thoughts so to even think about it would have subjected me to weeks of being told i was soe kind of sexist PIG for lookng at a woman that way and the fact that women got paid less than men for doing the same job was ALL MY FAULT or that when women dressed a bit scantily it was for their own empowerment not for MEN TO LOOK AT THEM SO DONT YOU DARE YOU BASTARD etc. Evn now, having referred to her as Mrs FC is a dangerous thing because she wasn't in any way my PROPERTY and didn't need to be DEFINED BY SOME MAN OR OTHER. You see where I'm going with this. Suprising it lasted so long really. must have been the 'make up' sex or something.

FC.

I used to be so politically correct that I would not look directly at or talk to attractive women in case they thought I was a creep, but then I was told this was sexist as well.

well yes I can see that, making a judgement on your view of how attractive they are might offend. These days I make a judgement that if a lady (young old attractive or otherwise) has her norks on show then I'm probably going to look at them, and probably while she's talking to me but my ears will still be working properly.

Well said. They're not exactly wearing their "love me for my mind" outfits. Don't fault us for looking.
