Voodoo Billy wrote:I was at that gig, it was my first Bunnymen concert, great night. Support band were superb Primitives (I had a "thing" for Tracy Tracy at the time). The Bunnymen were excellent, I think the gig had been rescheduled from about December '87 after Mac injured himself on the US tour. From what I remember the lighting was much stronger than they are now, Pete and his drumkit surrounded by hundreds of little lights so the band were much more visible than they are these days. The gig was released on CD by Windsong as it was one of the BBC's "In Concert" series.
I did all the UK gigs that January including the legendary Glasgow Barrowlands Concert, which the band claimed was their finest ever show.... And I have to say that these dates were the best I ever saw the Bunnymen play, I don't know if they knew the end was near so they wanted to go out on a high, but my god the were brilliant that tour.....
Also the stage set was based on Roman Columns in the background and Pete was at the back on a Drum Riser instead on being on the lip of the stage..................
