It's a bizarre scenario to create a forum that seems set on permanently attacking and running down the central talent (MAC) that has kept producing amazing music for 30 years.
It's a respect and a common decency thing. All the members mentioned were/are amazing talents. There needs to be more mutual respect all around, them toward each other and from the "fans."
If you don't like the post-reunion stuff as well as the early years, fair fucking enough.
But find a new drum to beat.
I too adore the glory years, but I get a lot more out of the poetry of the latter stuff as a person of maturing years myself. "How can the words not be the first thing that gets you about a song?"
It must be damn annoying to have a near perfect band whose most devoted fans are the ones who make a fucking hobby of being armchair "expert" critics - of music and even your personal life.
In closing my rant, let me add - Will's no fucking saint either; Slideling and WAYGTDWYL are sublime; and I feel ever so much better.
You all poke a lot of fun, sometimes mean-spirted, at everyone and everything else; let's see that critical eye turned on this forum itself.
Paradoxically, I've enjoyed and been annoyed by this forum for ages.
Cheers to all!

Dr Evil wrote:The fact that we all spend so much time moaning shows how much love there is for the band and Mac. Face it, we are still obsessed with the man. He really is one of the most unique human beings ever to exist on the planet.

Frank The Bunny wrote:Look, I don't give two shits if the Bunnymen never again release an album of new material. I remember Will and I sitting down in a bar in Portland - he was in a funk over Flowers not selling (and about touring). He said he'd gone to see Ray Davies and the Kinks play and they put on a great show. But nobody was lining up to buy the new Kinks album. The fans were there to hear the old stuff.
JackT wrote:Conversely, fans wanted to hear new music from The Shins that was basically copying The Kinks.
