Most of you people are so hell bent on discrediting Mac that you don't even make any sense.
Diva Diana you even quote that bands split songs evenly when they don't have to - HELLO!
Just because Les came up with the bass line on bed bugs a songwriter he does not make.
Melody, lyrics and chords legally gives you 100% of a song .
So a lot of the time it is split to keep the peace and to also acknowledge a musicians and the arrangements contribution to the song.
as for 100% of a song... That depends on where the melody is...sometimes the melody is played by another instrument. Sometimes the chord is changed by another instrument. If they contribute a solo in the bridge or their instrument stands out in the intro, then that's another melody. Some bands split songwriting when they don't have too, but I don't find that to be true in this band's case in the early stuff. Bedbugs and Ballyhoo was one example of how one idea developed into a whole. The only people who really know are the ones where were there. It wasn't all Mac, just as the problems weren't all Mac.
I've seen good hearted jesting, I've seen meanspirited stuff too. We've shared alot of great info about the band in the mix.
What difference does it make if I joke Mac crying and putting on the Leonard Cohen? It made one or two people laugh.
