Think I Need It Too co-writer?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

You own the Tsabropoulos version of the Gurdjieff stuff? I can't listen to any other recordings of Gurdjieff after hearing Tsabropoulos'.

I will check out Jóhann Jóhannsson now. I like it.

Ever hear of Stars Of The Lid - extremely ambient - or the kranky label in general?

Have the Budd and Guthrie - Do you have the Mysterious Skin soundtrack with Guthrie and Budd?

No but he has "The Fork, The Foreskin and The Foxcub Bicycle" by Walter Arandustruff and Pierre Labastermol-Smythe (with that famous Harpsicord solo by Avanti Behargfragen, the world famous Austrian free jazz musician).

I'd also recommend -

"Meadow Grass and Sleepless Milkbottles" and "Inertia Oceans Of Custard" by Dominic Pretensious-Wanker

"Spot the Tune, its in here somewhere" by Ian Bolt

"Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis (oh...hang on)
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

How about 'The piano songs of Les Dawson' as interpreted by the Whitby Tibetan Pianists Collective on Monk Records and Eric Morecombe's 'I'm playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order' Jazz Experiment on Little Warpy Earn's Label??

Bunnymen Management should pay you to think up their album titles, and it wouldn't take up much of your time, once every 3 or 4 years.

I appreciate the guy's info and if I were reading this thread, I'd want to know about other music in this genre as it doesn't fit pop music station molds so doesn't get played. Otherwise, I'd have pm'd.

Did not mean to come across like "Hey - this interpretation . . ." Just got a bit excited talking ambient. Other recordings of Gurdj's stuff are often cheaper but just aren't as good.

Give some of it a listen. Unlike The Fountain, you don't have to rationalize or dissect the song to decide it is good.

You just listen to it and like it. Maybe.

"Meadow Grass and Sleepless Milkbottles" and "Inertia Oceans Of Custard"....

Are fucking genius titles. Funnily enough not far away from "Badger's North" by Paddy Steer, to be found on Manchester's Red Deer Club label, and the genius of Godspunk compilations: volume 5 of which boast titles from some of Lancashire's finest:"Ivor Kullin goes to Denmark Street", "The Buddhist Response to Western Aggression", "Thank You for being Insane Pervert Human Being - Try Getting a Hearing Aid on the N.H.S. Shithead, (Sorry If This is Printed Upside Down)" Check out www.pumf.net and type in Godspunk, and check the track listing for Vol 5...

And WithaHip, Kranky's possibly the best label to listen to at the moment, so I'm with you on that, cock

Lost me for a bit - is this what it is like trying to follow Americans talk?

Anyway - searched Red Deer Label. Their myspace has a good cross section of their bands.

http://www.myspace.com/reddeerclub

Good stuff.

This is why I get a little tired of the idea "music sucks today." We always say that.

It was hard to find music if you were choosy twenty years ago because it was harder for bands to get into a studio and cassette tapes, word of mouth, going to shows and college radio stations were pretty much the few ways of finding out.

Now, it has gone the other way. There is so much out there - good and bad - and so easy for music to make it to the net or itunes that it takes forever to dig through. Finding websites and zooming through podcasts to hears songs, trying to judge from a cruddy live video or 1o second snippet on itunes -

Finding music you like when you are choosy is always a pain in the neck.

The Exploding Hearts were gonna save rock and roll.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

Its not as hard going as Blemish.

Its sort of like John Martyns Solid Air...with all the tunes removed
