Les will play live on stage during the Bunnymen's 60th anniversary tour, due in the year of our lord 2038. The one-off event will coincide with the release of a limited edition CD called, "Yet More Bloody Songs to Learn and Sing" and a free holographic projection of the legendary Ocean Rain performance, in its full entirety with a full orchestra, that was performed at the Big G Arena (affectionally known locally as The Bucket) in 2022.

In 2038, all that will be left of Ian McCulloch to perform will be his disembodied head in a jar (think Nixon in Futurama).

How did we get here? I used to speak of Ian McCulloch in hushed and respectful tones.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

That man no longer exists. Seriously, I treat anything Bunnymen related from 79 - 89 as a separate entity, different people.

Same guy? I think not. My friend summed it up the best. He's a casual Bunnymen fan at best, he saw them last year. He said they sounded like a lounge act covering Bunnymen songs.

Is it just age? I mean, how many 50 year-olds do you know who can get away with wearing spaghetti straps?

Jack looks amazing in one.

50 doesn't have to be the end. Morrissey is still rocking and he likes show tunes. Dave Gahan is nearing 50 and he still twirls like a cheerleader. Danzig is past 50 and that fool still kills it live.

I guess Mac really wants to be the Sinatra/Dean lounge singer/crooner. I want rockin' Mac.

I went to see Morrissey in 2006 in a pretty intimate venue compared to most places he plays these days (audience around the 1000 mark) and thought he was just about okay. Mac at Zelig's in April this year was way better. Morrissey played what you'd expect him to play, no real surprises, whereas Ian does take risks (Prettiest Star, Somewhere (!), Angles and Devils which isn't a Bunnymen regular and Waiting for the Man which was great). Okay, he might not move like he used to but he still has that something when he walks onstage.

For an old band Sonic Youth seem every bit as powerful as the Bunnymen were in their prime, so age is no excuse. I don't know much about Sonic Youth-perhaps I should get a "Sonic Youth for Dummies" book.

I prefer the later Ian, I will admit the original band is light years ahead. But the earlier Ian looks so GAY, I guess Happy_loss prefers the GAY looking Mac. I'll take Mac with the shades and attitude ala Lou Reed then Mac in the spaghetti strap shirt.

I saw Morrissey twice at the Palladium a few years back and the charisma and hold over the audience was something I'll never forget. He made you love him and you couldn't take your eyes off of him. Mac was the same at his 2003 solo show. Playing guitar, great set list, engaging the crowd, dancing a bit. But at every Bunnymen show it's the same setlist, doesn't move other than to "shoot" a light out or kick a cigarette off the stage.
