Tenuous Bunnymen link but its for a good cause

Postby Scouser » Sun Mar 15, 2009 11:36 am

On March 26th Liverpool Bands The La's, The Farm and Echo & The Bunnymen will release 'The Fields of Anfield Road' to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough Tragedy . It will be available from record shops and via download from the interweb.

John Power- The La's/Cast, Peter Hooton- The Farm, Nick Kilroe- Echo and The Bunnymen, Mick Head- Shack/The Pale Fountains and Robert Taylor, The Troubadors, have recorded a version of 'Fields of Anfield Road' for the 20th Anniversary of Hillsborough, produced by Ken Nelson-Coldplay, Badly Drawn Boy etc. The 4 track CD will also include a version of 'Fields...' by James Walsh Starsailor, 'Heart as Big as Liverpool' by Pete Wylie and 'Turning the Town Red' by Elvis Costello. All proceeds to Hillsborough Families Support Group. It will be avalable to download via Itunes from 6th April, and at Liverpool Football Club shop.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Who is Nick Kilroe and when/how was he a member of EATB?

Nevermind, I found my answer. He's the drummer in the current lineup.

Pretty sad (and tenuous) connection, if you ask me. But a good cause.

Great Hillsborough article in the Observer magazine today. They should make the low life who sing "funny" Hillsborough songs at football matches read it...its very harrowing. And heartbreaking.

The EATB link may be (very) tenuous and the song crap but I'll still be buying it.

YNWA.

There's a few thousand people who stand/sit on the Kop who'd take issue with you there I reckon!

Tenuous connections don't bother me. Buffalo, NY thrives on them to make itself feel relevant in the world.

I dont mean the song is crap...I mean this version may potentially be crap. The song is iconic.

You can tell CD was beaten up by scousers a fair few times in his/her life.

Have you tried therapy?

I've still got a soft spot for old Boris, not because I think he has any value as a politician, but because he is a living endorsement of my lifelong struggle against the hegemony of wealth and privelege in the UK. When you think of the thousands of pounds lavished on his education (private school, best Oxford college) its staggering that he comes out with such utter drivel.

Having lived in London for a good many years I cant see what connection he has with people from Tower Hamlets, Broadwater Farm or my old stomping ground Seven Sisters. Granted he has alot in common with people in Mayfair, Hampstead and Chelsea. But thats only a very small part of London.

But you cant hate Boris and I wasnt that upset by his anti-Liverpool comments as he had never been to Liverpool and had probably never met anyone from there. He was just regurgitating the view held by the Southern media at the time (though even that is changing now).

He's like an errant child, they infuriate you at times, but ultimately you calm down as you realise you cant ascribe adult thinking to someone with such limited experience of life. Its just scary that that type of person is an elected official of the largest city in the UK!!!

Oh dear....
