After reading all of these posts, some of which accuse me of being some sort of rip-off artist, I feel the need to respond. Normally, I wouldn't care if you just voiced your opinion on thinking the whole process sounds lame or not worth your time. However, in this case, it seems like I've been accused of trying to cheat everyone. Again, I might understand this if I were asking people to pay a cover or even pay for drinks at a party I DJ for 1 hour at. This is of course, not the case. I sent all of your concerns to the promoter I work with and here is his response:
"The Echo & the Bunnymen after-party at Beauty Bar is not open to the public, and that's why it's not advertised. We will be advertising the night on the RR myspace page, and in all online promos and emails."
I don't think it would be right for someone not DIRECTLY involved with the After-party to post any adverts on the Official Site. I don't know why it isn't being advertised there. I am in the exact same boat as the rest of you. You all now know, as much as I do. Again, I'd be happy to meet some of you at the Annex on Tuesday, and I will do my best to give out as many passes as possible. If you feel that it is not worth your time to get free passes by going to a free event with free alcohol, then bless you and good luck. This seemed like a simple and innocuous way to handle things and I'm sorry if you think it is unfair that, in the process you might've ended up "supporting" an Echo and the Bunnymen tribute night in NYC. I don't see any other way I could've given the extra passes out to real fans.
