Official RCMH After-Party!!!!

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Am I missing something here??

Essentially, the guy is dj'ing on Tuesday night at Annex and in order to get more bodies there (Annex) because last time no one showed up for his Bunnymen set, he's holding the carrot out for "free" passes to the official exclusive management arranged VIP partay the next night at the other bar where he knows someone. And reading between the lines, Will is at least expected to be in attendance.

I still say yawn. And I'll add a meh to that too.

By the way, thanks for the transportation tips, Moondance.

Not that am gonna be there but I really need to ask this.............

Why would the guy running the "Official" After Show party be punting it on an unofficial band website...... And not mention it at all on the official band website.... ?

Maybe am a cynical Scot but to paraphrase a great Scottish saying "I smell shite"..... Is it not some guy trying drum up a crowd for a club night with a promise of some non existent or unofficial aftershow party after the gig............ It could still be a great party but is it really official ?????

Please correct me if am wrong........................

I'm just excited to enjoy Bunnymen music for an hour in a club w/ fellow fans and free vodka drinks. It's a win-win situation!

yeah same here. Besides he is not running the "official" party. He said:

I am not one of the organizers and have had NO CONTACT with the management of Echo and the Bunnymen. I am a musician/part-time DJ who happens to know one of the promoters involved in this Official After-party and when I heard about it, I simply asked him if I could attend, and he came back to me with the idea of letting me bring a few people with passes. Being as this is an "invite only" event, I don't see why Beauty Bar would bother to advertise it on their site.

But...... He is using a so called "Official After Show Party" to drum up a crowd for his own night, all am asking if such a party existed why would he not post it on the other site. We all have our opinions of the other site but when there is an after gig event Pete has always posted details on there.......

As I said am a cynic in these things I just find it iffy when someone punts their night with a promise of maybe getting you the golden ticket to an exclusive Bunnymen Party, sounds too good to be true...... Am happy to be proven wrong on this, i'll wait and see with baited breath..........

You go. If it sucks, you leave, get in a cab and go somewhere else.

It's my guess that perhaps/maybe the Beauty Bar is holding some sort of after gig party for the band et al and it's not really open to the general public. I object to the manipulation to get these passes for what may or may not be a payout at the end. It does feel like being hustled. I may be a hayseed, but I'm not that slow.

What you think moonies and red? It's not like we need to be anywhere bright and early wednesday.

Rusty, I would be up for it if I'm back on time. (still dunno what time i will be at Moonies' or how to get there, but I'd go into the city with you (and Moonies) if you wanted to go.) Would feel like 3 am to me til i got there......but we don't have to be at the hotel until 1 pm to meet everyone else....so I could pull it off if you're up for it. PM me. Let me know. :-)

After reading all of these posts, some of which accuse me of being some sort of rip-off artist, I feel the need to respond. Normally, I wouldn't care if you just voiced your opinion on thinking the whole process sounds lame or not worth your time. However, in this case, it seems like I've been accused of trying to cheat everyone. Again, I might understand this if I were asking people to pay a cover or even pay for drinks at a party I DJ for 1 hour at. This is of course, not the case. I sent all of your concerns to the promoter I work with and here is his response:

"The Echo & the Bunnymen after-party at Beauty Bar is not open to the public, and that's why it's not advertised. We will be advertising the night on the RR myspace page, and in all online promos and emails."

I don't think it would be right for someone not DIRECTLY involved with the After-party to post any adverts on the Official Site. I don't know why it isn't being advertised there. I am in the exact same boat as the rest of you. You all now know, as much as I do. Again, I'd be happy to meet some of you at the Annex on Tuesday, and I will do my best to give out as many passes as possible. If you feel that it is not worth your time to get free passes by going to a free event with free alcohol, then bless you and good luck. This seemed like a simple and innocuous way to handle things and I'm sorry if you think it is unfair that, in the process you might've ended up "supporting" an Echo and the Bunnymen tribute night in NYC. I don't see any other way I could've given the extra passes out to real fans.

Red, so far I have not heard from Brigitte, so it looks like I will be able to pick you up at the airport.

Jo, I am sorry that you felt that anyone is accusing you of something nefarious! I didn't think that about you, I was just confused because the first post read something like "after show party". If Red is up to it after travelling back from the UK and if Rusty is up to it after flying in from NE, we could go.

Thanks again Jo. I'll be there to support your hour of Bunnymen songs!! I tried to get my local bar to do this when I lived in Chicago (they would do a Smiths night), but the owner said the Bunnymen didn't have enough catalogue! He did play my Bunnymen requests when he dj'd though!

I think there is going to be a good amount of us going, so it should be fun! It's going to be the Official VT pre-pre-gig party!

There are also plenty of subway stops in the area. To figure out the best possible route, you can use www.hopstop.com. And for the record, I DO NOT work for hopstop.com and will not profit from you using their website.
