On the other hand, if they were to play L.A. ... Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl come to mind, but could they really sell out the Bowl? It seats about 18,000. Or maybe they'd play the Greek Theatre.

I like the Greek because it's outside but don't like the fact that it's a seated venue and the citizens of Griffith Park won't put up with noise after a certain time.

Probably the Hollywood Bowl is the best. I wouldn't want to see them in Universal Amphitheatre.

Maybe they should do one by the ocean?

Who's going to pay for this "world" tour? The label? I mean, it's got to cost a nice chunk o' change to hire an orchestra, for instance. And get a venue with good acoustics AND a stage big enough to fit an orchestra and the Bunnyboys. And fill it with the paying public.

Maybe they won't use the full orchestra on the world tour.

What they should do is do a full blown regular tour and make certain dates the Ocean Rain performance.

speaking of the orchestra ...does anyone else besides me think it'd be cool if Adam Peters played cello for these shows?? (haven't heard anyone mention it yet.....) but i think it'd be great! i spose the chances are greater than Les coming back.... :frown:

But I want William Shatner to negotiate my tickets for me. :(

They could play the parking lot at the Malibu Inn

I'd vote for the Bowl too, but could they sell it out? It's fun to see shows there ... take the bus, have a picnic beforehand, get liquored up on your own booze ... I thought they had a noise curfew at the Bowl too. Tho maybe it's later than the Greek's.

And maybe they would do a mix of regular dates and "special orchestral" ones. That way, they could cut down on expenses, plus the extra rehearsal time that would be needed to play with an orchestra.

Or they could do like Patti Smith and play on the Santa Monica Pier. The ocean would be an appropriate backdrop for  Ocean Rain

I'd go to England if I had the choice.

Good suggestion, but only if they can guarantee showers

How about a ballroom on the Queen Mary? Or a Bunnymen cruise

Dunno about Adam Peters playing Cello but he would be a prime suspect for writing the string arrangements for the orchestra, although I would prefer Craig Armstrong to do the arrangement. Once the arrangement is written it's fairly straight forward playing / touring allyou need do is hire local orchestra who will play off the arrangement with minimum rehearsal........

Will be really interesting to see if the Bunnymen can shift 10,000 tickets for this gig. Although the Liverpool Echo Arena isnt all that big there arent many acts that have managed to sell it out - including Elton John (although that is two nights). In fact the only sell outs so far are Roger Waters and Michael Buble. Roger Waters is one of only two UK gigs and Michael Buble is riding the crest of a wave over here (Gods knows why) - current chart acts like Rhianna, Shane Ward, Westlife and Girls Aloud have all failed to sell out despite their record companies really getting behind them.

Most fans already have RAH tickets and seem to be favouring that venue (understandably - beautiful concert hall vs modern shed) with less seemingly prepared to do both (especially the US contingent for obvious reasons). The Xmas gigs are held in a 2,000 capacity venue (the Carling Academy) so we know the Bunnymen can shift 4,000 in Liverpool, though a fair few of them are the hardcore.

That leaves 6,000 tickets to be bought by floating punters. Is Ocean Rain with an orchestra enough of a draw for the uninitiated? I genuinely dont know.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Scouser's inability to se others' point of view is rather grating.

The week before Sparks played the Wolves Civic c1800 capacity they had to do a two for one offer. That night, the cupboard would have been big enough for the both of us.
I dunno,is selling out the objective? They will easily breakeven plus a big push around Liverpool/Manc should get up 6-7000.Cant see 10,000 on Thursday night myself. In their pomp at the NEC they only sold 9000 out of an 18000 capacity.

Not too fussed about getting near the front tbh as the sound can be garbage if all the speakers are located a mile above your ears.I'll go but I'm not expecting miracles.Looking forward to RAH much more.
