Would it have been better if Mac had died after Ocean Rain?

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Would it have been better if Mac had died after Ocean Rain?

Think about it.

We would have been left with four peerless albums, his image would never age...he would forever have that hair, that voice, those interviews. There would be plays, films... a museum. Will, Les and Pete could have retired on the royalties. Pete would never have needed to get on his motorbike that fateful day and would still be with us.

Every generation would discover the Bunnymen like they do Joy Divison and The Doors - they would, in short, be immortal.

Just a thought.
Mr. Brian, I find that offensive.

Actually, I think it would be better if YOU had died after Ocean Rain!

Interesting concept.

But I want to see them age like us, first, and see how long they last. Go grey etc.

Red, should see Will on 11 hopefully

I wanna see Mac at the Academy in Dec 2038 singing Killing moon, he'll probably be a bit croaky by then and won't be able to move around too much and he may have lost a bit of enthusiasm but ....hey .... hang on a minute ....

Maybe Mac could have done a Syd Barret/Pink Floyd and lost his marbles and disappeared only to have the Bunnymen carry on with Noel Burke and record What Are You Going To Do With The Dark Side Of The Moon?

What would happen now?

Bunnymen "tribute" forums would be full of 80s-era fans moaning about a TV reality show "Rock Star: Echo & The Bunnymen" featuring the surviving members of the band, Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Andrew Lloyd Webber as they try to choose a new singer for the recently reformed "legendary" Bunnymen. Arguments would develop between former fans that think that it is a great idea and no matter who sings, they are looking forward to new songs after all these years. Others would argue that nobody could replace Mac and it is a sell-out. Much like today, the general public would not give a shite about the Bunnymen anyway and it would be dropped from the TV schedule after episode one. A planned Broadway stage musical would also be abandoned.

What year is this?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

lol.What a bad taste thread!

The general giste is that nothing after OR has any kind of merit which I disagree totally. The only release I havnt found any longevity in after that is Flowers, which is chronically produced, recorded and has the worst sleeve ever.

That would make a great addition to Guitar Hero, better than the forthcoming Aerosmith expansion disc anyway!
