First up Kodaline - Quite like these though there's only one song that I really like - One Day - young chaps getting serious about life passing you by and all that depression stuff - and all of it sounds somewhere in the gap between Coldplay and the rest with a bit of latter day U2 thrown in. My daughter bought me the first album after asking some bloke at work for ideas for her dad's birthday and listing my usual stuff. He came up with this and Arcade Fire, which I thought was a bit crap.
Anyways just youtubing instead of doing work and came across the actual single version of this and in my vast wisdom see this as a classic way to ruin a great (well quite good) song. Album version goes straight into the verse and plods along nicely before hitting the hook near the end as a sort of, er, release. Crikey. Single version - speeds it up a tad with a bit of a disco beat, puts the hook right up front and then starts the not so brooding eurovision life pasising you by nonesense. Obv 'what do I know I only have five versions of every echo and the bunnymen album none of which have troubled the charts overly for 40 years'. Anyways herre's thetwo versions....
OK I take back the disco beat.......
