Was going to dismiss this as pish-tush, with the evidence that wikipedia (which is always true, as you knowe) doesn't list any hits for either Westlife or Boyzone in the USA despite their megamillions around europe. But they're a different kettle of boyband fish aren't they? Not the firebrand christian rock stars that the yoots were, back in the day, or even now. I'd agree its a contributing factor though I think - americans seem to like the irish don't they - how else would they accept that bit in the untouchables where sean connery, full of about five hundred bullets, manages to crawl about a hundred yards before carking it.
