Bunnymen in the studio - recording EPs

...

As for Echo & The Bunnymen, there will be an American tour later in the year.

"We're writing stuff, in the middle of recording new stuff."

He doesn't want to follow 2014's Meteorites with another album, though. This time, they're writing for EPs.

"One EP: wallop. Another one: wallop. Wallop, wallop, wallop. That's how we used to write and record. Most of the singles people know, they were separate from albums. You make your mark easier, I think. Rather than going in thinking we've got three classics and seven that sound okay.

"It's better to have short bursts in the studio. After a few weeks, what do you do? Especially when you've not got Sky."

....

A new song or two would be alright. I'm not down with a new album. I'm tired of being disappointed. The band themselves seem to abandon the songs anyway. How many Flowers songs are they playing live now? Siberia? *gulp* The Fountain?

There were a couple, title track and the constantinople one, from meteorites, or maybe more the last couple of times I've seen em, and to be fair (I can do that, I'm a grown up) they sound much better live than on the record. But I know what you mean wrt the rest.

sorry the part I pulled from the article sucks. You should read it - talks about it more in depth. Seems like they'll be delivering more singles. I'd like to hear more from them - that's for sure.

It's true they haven't cracked the top 10 since the Evergreen singles but personally I'd rather see them concentrate on a few really good songs vs a whole album of material that isn't going to sell, be played live, or be forgotten a month after it's released.

Might a lunchbox joke be inappropriate?

It's a shame that it's come to this, as I still love albums. But the Bunnymen have been on quite a downward turn for yonks.

WAYGDWYL was the last one that, from start to finish, I loved.

The rest have their moments, but are far too patchy. Except for Meteorites. Which was shite.
