EATB-related places in Liverpool

Postby howmanytimes » Thu Mar 31, 2016 8:50 am

Dear wise and knowledgeable Bunnyfans,
Please don’t start throwing stones and sarcastic comments at me right away, as I’m not only new to this forum, but a very recent follower of the band. I only discovered them last year, went to one concert so far and I’m still working my way through their music catalogue.
I’d like to go and see some EATB-related sights on my next trip to Liverpool, but I couldn’t come up with any locations apart from Parthenon Drive and Eric’s Club.
I’m mostly interested in the early history – where the lads lived, went to school, hung out before they became famous. It’s now about finding out where Ian lives now and stalking him there
Concerning different venues in Liverpool that EATB/IM played over the years, I’ve already been to St. George’s Hall, Sefton Park, The Anglican Cathedral, LIPA for different reasons. I’ve been to Liverpool more than 20 times over the last 10 years and I’m well familiar with all the usual touristy sights.
In some way, I’m possibly just looking for an excuse to take a trip down somebody else’s memory lane and explore those parts of my favourite city where I haven’t been yet.
Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.

You could do the crystal day tour on your own. Didn't go meself but must be documented somewhere. Then when you've finished with the pool you could do the album covers tour. Carnglaze, Iceland, rickmansworth, some beach or other.
Chez.

Thanks, it's a bizarre idea to try to retrace Crystal Day pre-concert quest more than 30 years later, that's why it really appeals to me. I'll try to find the necessary info.
As for the album covers tour, wish I could do it, but I'll possibly need to win the lottery before I can afford it...

I'll have a rummage for the poster, maybe I can do you a photocopy.
Also, a look at Chicago Buildings (Zoo Office), the old Probe shop building on Button Street,

I wonder if the Crocodiles tree is still there, I'd love to see that.

Thanks Voodoo Billy, I would greatly appreciate if you could find that poster, as I think it's the only thing that contained detailed instructions. So far, I couldn't find them, but will keep looking.
Thanks for the mention of old Probe/Zoo office, I know it and went past many times on my way to Mathew street. Now every time I pass, I'll think also about Bunny connection.

There's also 'The Promise" painting by Henry Scott Tuke (used as the cover for The Back of Love) at the Walker Art Gallery.

I go to Liverpool once or twice a year and one of the things I always go visit is the Superlambanana with the bands faces painted on at the river Mercey nearby the Museum of Liverpool. Without even knowing that it was there, I was driven to go to that place the first time I went to Liverpool.

Is Will's Tele still in the museum?

Thanks for mentioning Superlambananas, I love these cute imaginary animals and always visit them on the waterfront. Think it was from the music lambanana that I first learned about existence of EATB and some other bands

Thanks for helpful info, I didn't know this painting was from Walker collection. It wasn't on display last week, and I'm not sure if I ever saw it there over the last few years, but I'll remember to look out for it in future.

In case anybody's interested, that's what 86 Parthenon Drive looks like nowadays.
