SIBERIA 10th ANNIVERSARY

Postby crystal89 » Fri May 29, 2015 6:54 am

To celebrate the momentous occasion of 10 years since Siberia was released Echo and the Bunnymen will be celebrating this event by playing none of the songs on their next tour, continuing a policy of under promoting every record since 2001, and some would say earlier.

Approved press release quotes include;

1. "If you want to listen to it, then buy it."
2. "10 years? I'd forgotten about that one."
3. "The best record since Ocean Rain"

The record will not be remastered and will instead be kept in its original and therefore superior fidelity for all, or at least some, to enjoy.

Cheers

Yes, I wish they would mix it up a bit more, a large part of their music catalogue heard never more.

Remember the good old days when bands would go on tour to promote a new album and actually play more than two songs from it!

Cheers for that, we're offering fans the chance to win a guitar that Mac's friends brothers sisters husbands cousin used to look at.

It'll be signed by all the guys in the band. Please note that this will not be signed by Mac or Will so stop asking us for that.

Cheers,

They have now released more studio albums with the reformed band than with the original and I'm sure 99% of the audience isn't there for anything after Evergreen.

Looking at Kristin's Concert log http://www.angelfire.com/wy2/setlists/page19.html
...For the Evergreen tour (97ish) they were doing 7 or 8 new songs but that was a big seller with several hits.
In 99 they were doing 4-5 songs from WAYGTDWYL
Live in Liverpool (2002) had 4 songs from Flowers but I see setlists where they were doing 5-6 from that album
Me, I'm All Smiles (2006) had 4 songs from Siberia

I don't recall what they were doing for shows when The Fountain came out but I don't think anyone was screaming for Proxy or I Think I Need It Too.

The longer a band exists, it must be harder and harder to include newer material. It would interesting if on the last show of the tour they did a whole set of nothing but songs from Evergreen to Meteorites.

All Because of You Days is fuckin' amazing. If you don't like that song then in my humble opinion you're dead inside. And my humble opinion is never wrong.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

It was mine as well and I would start the ringtone around the 4 minute mark when the song goes into full epic mode. My youngest son who is Autistic LOVES the song as well. He has a vocabulary of about 30 words but when he wants to hear the song he says "Nothing gets you high, please. Okay." I wish the Bunnymen would play it live.

Mine starts at around 2.55, but the 4 min mark is indeed more epic.
Maybe someday, we'll say hi.

That's such a beautiful sentiment. Mac's lyrics are much less cryptic these days but to me All Because of You Days is doesn't need those trappings. There's beauty and depth in the simplicity. Same as when he asks "Have I hit rock bottom?" A lot if Siberia is painful to listen to. Especially knowing what was going on with his life at the time.
