"It was a case of ‘you’re having us, even if you don’t want us’ — that’s like some kind of rape or something,” says McCulloch, referring to the deal with Apple whereby U2’s LP, Songs of Innocence, was crowbarred without consent into the inboxes of 300m iTunes customers.

Hey did I miss something?

Salvation came, as it often has through his life, from music. One day, McCulloch retrieved a battered bass guitar and started to bash out a tune. The sound was mournful, drenched with feeling. It was as if he had attached a lightning rod to his soul.

“It felt special from the off,” he says. “I was using an acoustic bass and it had this twang to it. It inspired me — I was reminded of earlier Bunnymen stuff. I just ran with it.”

He played the songs to his wife. She entirely approved of the new direction. But she urged him to write more expressive lyrics — to channel the pain with which he was so visibly wrestling (and which she believed could be traced to childhood and his relationship with his father, a compulsive gambler).

Yeah I thought he split from his wife long before the Meteorites songs came along. Maybe they still stay in touch.

There was some other interview around the time of release sying he talks about his ex-wife as if they're still married. You could stalk, sorry, follow her on twitter if you really wanted to know. Come on down to the market town the result of a lightning rod? Oh gawd.

I know during the time of Flowers when they were first not on a major label. Mac said when taxi drivers or whoever, especially in the US, asked about the band, he would still say they were on Warner Bros. because they at least heard of that vs "Cooking Vinyl". I'll bet the Cooking Vinyl people really appreciated that.

Madonna has spoken out with regards to the reported leak of her next album, calling it "artistic rape" and "a form of terrorism".

The singer took to Instagram to comment, writing: "This is artistic rape!! These are early leaked demo's half of which wont even make it on my album the other half have changed and evolved. This is a form of terrorism. Wtf!!!! Why do people want to destroy artistic process??? Why steal? Why not give me the opportunity to finish and give you my very best?".

In an earlier Instagram post, she explained that the songs that are currently online are "unfinished demos stolen long ago". She also thanked fans for their loyalty by not listening to the tracks. The full comment reads: "Thank you for not listening! Thank you for your loyalty! Thank you for waiting and if you have heard please know they are unfinished demos stolen long ago and not ready to be presented to the world".

The album, which is set for release in 2015, is allegedly called 'Iconic' or 'Unapologetic Bitch'. Scroll down for the full, leaked tracklisting, via ONTD, which includes songs called 'Bitch I'm Madonna', 'Joan Of Arc' and 'Unapologetic Bitch'.
