I bought a bass guitar!

Tired of discussing the Bunnymen and all the bands that have been influenced by them? This is the place for you.

No, I have no time for that unfortunately. I can't even get my wife and kids in the same room for a little practice once a week and my job is about to change to something that will use up more of my time. I like doing video stuff so I would like to record our original song in Cakewalk and post a YouTube music video or something. The kids would get a kick out of that.

I was in two rock bands in the 90's that played original music, played live and did some semi-professional demo's in a studio. In the second band we got to play a short live set on a local radio station. That was pretty cool and fun but our singer cursed in one song and the engineer got very mad at us. I always felt that this band had great potential and as a guitarist I was really was hitting my stride but we just couldn't get over that hump and it just dissolved.

I did write a song last year that I recorded with Cakewalk.

Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie had a side project called The Postal Service where the two members exchanged DAT tapes where they would remix and add tracks and trade back and forth, and that's how the album was recorded, hence the name of the band. Maybe some day we could do something like that with file sharing although it sounds like we all use different software so I'm not sure how that would work. Just a thought. Like I said my time is pretty tight as it is.

So what's your story?

Then it's right in style. The law firm I work for is implementing this next week:

"Also effective March 3, the firm will replace all plastic utensils with utensils made from potato starch. "Potato-ware" composts easily and will break down quickly in the waste system, thus reducing space needed in landfills. You can use the new disposable forks, knives and spoons exactly as you would the old plastic ones; they will stand up to your hot soups and beverages and are just as sturdy."

So now if anyone gets hungry, we can just head for the utensil drawer. Yum.

The first all family practice with the bass.

Well all of us finally had our first practice. The kids and I have already had a few. I gave my wife a quick run down on 12 bar blues in E, no runs or anything, just the root notes and the I-IV-V pattern, etc and off we went with the original song we had. It was great and she was quick learner. I can't wait to do it again.

You are still free to use the band name I came up with:

Mexico Dynamite Truck Explosion

Started playing music in my late teens. It is a hobby. Play out in this region with an original band with no following. Play with people here and there.

Keep taking lessons for various insturments. Kind of like painting. Two generations from now my grandkids will find the recordings and go, "Who the f(*& made this?"

You planning on raising potty-mouths? Or will you just lose control of the family at some point?

I thought you and I were the Dotsun Moon fan club President and Treasurer.

Mr. President?
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts
