The Works?

It looks like there is yet another collection being released.

http://www.hmv.co.jp/product/detail/2699952

http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/produ ... 41&pType=1

It has a Warner catalog number of 5144277472

The Townsend link says it's a 3CD set and both links show a release date of late March 2008.

Apparently he's quite handy with a snooker cue.

Another "quiet" release. I hope Warners are not like this with the forthcoming album. No mention of the band on the official Warners music website either yet.

Wonder what it is? A three-set of CDs providing Bunnymen singles, b-sides and 12" mixes spanning 1979 to 1988. A must-have collection for any Bunnymen fan. Erm, like we have these already. A repackaged Crystal Days.

What we really need is a complete collection on CD of the Bunnymen Peel Sessions, going right up to very their last performance (WAYGTDWYL?). Other than that. Boring![/b]

He's also a fixture in B-movies:

this was posted by bunnymen.com on the official forum:

Thiis is a WEA release and done without the Bands full backing, it will feature most of the tracks from the box set.
There is a issue with the art work at the moment, it will be in all the major dealers and more importantly in all the Supermarkets, these sell more CDs in the UK than any other kind of outlet.

How did I guess that then! I don't know about anyone else, but it won't be on my "must have" list and does make me feel a little ripped off. The Crystal Days box set was costly when it came out (I think I paid £60 for it), but worth the money as I hadn't heard some of the stuff on there before. Even an updated version of that would have been more interesting. Goes back to my joke about the "Best of" albums. Too many out now and it's starting to look a bit silly. Certainly not one for the fans.

My guess is the band receives very little input on releases of back catalog packages such as this anyway. I'm sure the band get publishing rights and all but I was under the impression as most bands are that the Bunnymen owe some money to Warner. Remember most bands are merely borrowing money anyway and have to make it up in sales or tours at some point. This is probably a way for Warner to get some of that money.

I hope they at least throw in something on this like an unreleased video or a DVD of extras, but I highly doubt it. That would probably raise the cost too much. It just seems strange to do this after a repackage of More Songs.

I wonder if a true Box Set will ever be released with the first 5 albums (I would guess that Reverberation would not be included) and the post reunion albums all in one package and add in some extras and the box is shaped like an amplifier or a building or something that distinguishes it as "Bunnymen". For the Bunnymen what should the package look like? Would you buy it? I mean we all probably have the 25th anniversary remasters and Crystal Days. maybe something like this should wait until the inevitable breakup somewhere down the road?

I'm not going to buy something if it's just rehashes, or even if it's got a video or two on it as "extras."

I would buy the complete peel sessions, or the 1983 Albert Hall gig on CD and DVD, or some other really amazing live shows.

And isn't it past time for somebody to do a really good, in-depth documentary on the Bunnyboys?

I think the Bunnymen should do what Tom Waits does. Put out new, interesting and sometimes challenging music.
