I've listened to it a few times and honestly it's just so boring. The Fountain gets pissed on here but it honestly has about 3 or 4 songs that are way better than just about anything on Meteorites. I think the production on the new album helps to mask how poor most of the songs on the new album really are. Even Market Town is a pretty lame song outside of the ending which is pretty cool.

What about Lovers On the Run? I really dig that one. Is This a Breakdown has been growing on me as well.

I think Lovers is the best song on the album and Is This A Breakdown isn't bad either, but that's about it outside of Grapes on the Vine. The rest just sounds like mostly lame retreads from other recent Mac stuff to me.

the album (of what little i have admittedly listened to) seems to lack any magic. i could be an album by any number of bands who are in the charts at the moment. there seems to be little (admittedly i've not given it much time) that sets it apart, and as i do not listen to the chart i feel little need to listen to the rest of the album. for the record i really like most of the fountain. the songs seem smarter and it sounds lime classic post 97 bunnymen

If we didn't have The Fountain we wouldn't appreciate Meteorites (well, some of us) as much. After scraping the depths it's nice to see how far they have risen again. That's without going over the top- I say meteorites is the best album after the classic four, but there is still a massive gulf between them.

I would still put Evergreen and WAYGTDWYL above Meteorites. There doesn't seem to be much love for Evergreen in peoples lists in one of the other threads. That seems strange. It was a great comeback with 3 original Bunnymen. Maybe I will start a new topic on that...

Two listens in and can't saying its doing it for me this album. but maybe its a grower and maybe i shouldn't have read the lyric sheet before listening because they are the pits. Admittedly starts promising on the first song but then hits a chorus that he could have written any time in the last twenty years and its the last train to plodsville from then on. Theres a few goodish instrumental bits here and there but those effing drums (machines?) and wheres the space, no...... lets shove another layer in there shall we, and more importantly wheres the groove, and when he can't be arsed repeating the lines himself theres that bleeding echo. Yeah its rubbish (yeah its rubbish) (yeah its rubbish) etc.

And is it me or is he repeating melody lines from post reformation albums all over the place? I blame Peter Andre - he was doing a signing in HMV where I got it and I couldn't mooch about the racks as i normally do thus avoiding the temptation to buy this thing -and its ebvne the special edition with a 15 minute interview - great. Apart from that its OK. Best buns album in the last ten years? Not saying much? Now, wheres me time machine, set the controls to 1980........

The fountain was utter gash. Apart from need it too and November. Meteorites is over produced but I am liking it. I wa expecting a pile of steaming pish, and found a very well polished turd. Some really good songs on this. At least the sarge can be heard . Will never beat reverberation though. Mac at his best, for some of you :)
