Manchester Ritz

Decided to catch the band there as the Local Hilton owed me a complimentary night as they made an arse of my previous stay, and I picked up train tickets for £19.50 rtn, so too good an opportunity to knock back..... Only thing is I don't think I've been to the Ritz before, so how is it as a venue and is there any decent bars/eateries nearby ?

Saw the Bunnymen there on the Fountain tour, watched some of the gig from the ground floor but there wasn't much space so we went upstairs for the last couple of songs and there was a great view from the left side of the stage.

There's a few decent bars directly opposite like Gorilla.

I always get there very early to get a place on the balcony.
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.

I saw Seasick Steve there last year. I wasn't very impressed with the place, although these days I'm not happy anywhere if I don't have a seat. Seem to be plenty of bars and stuff around and it was handy for parking.

Never ask a gentleman his age, Doctor Queso. I'm the same age as VB, actually. I just can't be doing with being stood up for 4-5 hours non-stop, although if I was drinking lots of alcohol in the process then I'm sure it wouldn't bother me. Sadly I don't get to drink much alcohol when Mrs 5time is around as she tells me off when I get a bit tipsy.

I'd love one with a cup-holder and an ashtray. Gigs would never be the same again.

Saw the Bunnies there a few years back and some young girl call me a sad old git for not waving my arms during Ocean Rain. I tried to explain it's difficult to hold onto a Zimmer frame and wave your arms and not fall over.

Seen I Am Kloot and Turin Brakes there as well in recent years. Not a bad venue

This may be worth a visit not far down Oxford Road near the old BBC buildings
