Mrs FC is probably on some site with her fancy man. At least she should be.

VB, are you still dreaming of your scratch and sniff record spacers from Will?

People obviously don't understand how bookings work...the venue will have a minimum payout and probably a percentage after that ...at five quid a ticket the band are losing money ....add up travel accommodation ,tech payouts ,van hire , strings etc ...five quid is a loss ..

Something I've always wondered, I know promoters always get the bad rap when a show is cancelled but it usually comes down to poor ticket sales. i.e. no one wants to see those bands.
Wonder how much it costs the promoters to advertise locally or how much they and a little club/pub/whatever they're playing would lose if they can't rebook for the night.

What did they cancel the first time around - 2 of the 4 shows? Next time Les was ill and all those went last minute? That one venue a while back was laughable when they said they - or 'mgmt' - said that the venue wanted to wait until the album was out. No venues ever get involved in the day to day. None. Never.

(Never mind Wembley, FC, I actually know how those venues work.)

Well this is how it normally goes in small venues.....bands have to guarantee minimum ticket sales.if the revenue isn't met and gig goes ahead band pickup shortfall .After that band and venue split excess.Minimum revenue covers venue overheads ...PA promotion mixing engineer ,bar staff ,running costs etc so the venue is exposed to minimum risk .If you pull the gig no loss of money normally by a certain date.

Thx, DS. Never really thought about it at that level. Probably sucks for the venue if a band guarantees and doesn't come through with the goods, ending up in a loss overall hence pulling the gig. Two of my friends work for LiveNation (booking) but they do it with venues like House of Blues on up to the stadiums here. Not much room for loss there. If so, it would be covered by insurance.
