Have forums run their course???

General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

Yes I think social media like Facebook has killed the website forum. As long as it doesn't cost me too much and people use it, I won't be closing this forum any time soon.

On major difference is there is a level of anonymity on a website forum where most people on Facebook use real names because they not only interact with people regarding their music or politics or whatever, they also stay in touch with Grandma and post pics of their kids. Yes you can have multiple accounts on FB but I don't think most people do that.

On top of all this, other than Poltergeist, what is really going on in the Bunnymen world? Not much, and the stuff that has, The Fountain, Mac's solo, lackluster short tours, not many people here seem to like it much. I predict this forum will outlast the Bunnymen.

Essential for what though? I'm not on FB and I somehow manage to get through my day without any major calamities and if I'm desperate to know what any of my mates had for tea I'll pick the phone up and ask them. Twatter, FB, it's all bollocks really isn't it.

I dont think the forum - as in the generic forum - is dead yet and will remain whilst people want to discuss common interests, such as moaning about their once favourite band's latest epic. My daughters use the facebook for the chat thingy, and my youngest uses twitter more as a chat thingy than for making earth shatteringly inmportant statements a la stephen Fry or cheryl cole showing us her arse.

It's times like these that even the doubters wait expectantly for the latest new thread by King of Kings. Any post is always of entertainment value.

Yes, this site has outlasted the Bunnymen. Such loyal fans, wandering the desert, thirsting for something to quench their soul.

I'm sure there's life in the old dogs yet, I mean Will seems to have a rocket up his arse productivity-wise these days so must be on th cards. yes? Hmmm? Maybe I need KOK to come along, as you suggest, and put a damper on all that enthusiasm.

I do find myself looking for the "Like" button here sometimes out of habit. There probably is one or something like it for the newer versions of this forum software. I am several versions behind now and I am afraid I will break it if I do the updates!
