Golden Boot theme: early version of How Does It Feel..?

"The Bunnymen had originally submitted an early version of the song with different lyrics as the theme music for The Golden Boot, a six-week series of programmes to be hosted by ex-England footballer Gary Lineker in the run up to the World Cup in June."

The "King of Cool" book even seems to suggest it was indeed used as theme music for a while.

Is this true and has anybody heard this particular version?

Check Please

Love to hear it if you got it.

Also a while back in 2007 I think someone here said that the SUN played part of the missing Johnny Marr + Ian Mcculloch album (track) for people who called in over the phone. Part of a promo for The Sun newspaper. Unfortunately - no one has coped to hearing it, knowing about it, or knowing shit.

Wish there was a Bunnymen only version of the footie song or of the pre-Spice girls shite. Something slower tempo and with acoustic guitars. DEMO?

Likewise, no rarities or covers - other than the ones we know about...sad really.

No, the one you were able to listen to over the phone was a demo version of HDIFTBOTOTW with Mac and John Power (La's, Cast) on vocals.

I recorded some of the Golden Boot series and it's just the instrumental you get on the Top of the World CD.
It wouldn't work if Mac was a slaphead would it.
