[quote="Dr Cheese"]I suspect that was more to do with this:

based on that, maybe the new management will go for a remake of the seven seas video

Rescue indeed and above all Bedbugs sound amazing.
Even Pro Patria Mori and Somewhere in my Dreams sound good now with the orchestral treatment (and studio re-recordings maybe), this is much much better than the album version.
The into guitar to Killing Moon sounds too obviously re-recorded in studio but i could be wrong. Great job and great version though anyway, even if the guitar is far too low in the mix in the midway break.
Zimbo's quite wonderful too in this very different version. (but then again i suspect the vocals have been re-recorded).

My only (and big) regret is that they didn't put all songs played that night, they put aside some songs i really wished to be able to listen to in their orchestral version (Fools Like us and Rust especially, both WAYGTDWYL songs, goddamn! and then the Disease was forgotten too while i could have easily made it without Arthur).

So, IMO a very good official live orchestral album, though i wonder how much 'real' live stuff lies in there (Zimbo being an evident proof of the studio reworking)

Whether live or with studio dubs a nice addition and different takes on Mac \ Bunnies classics. I will also have a proper listen to the PPM CD this time round and maybe appreciate it more. Slightly disillusioned with the delays to PPM so probably never gave it a fair hearing last year.
Agree would be good if all the tunes were included. Don't know if you got the PledgeMusic MP3 pre release of PPM with the additional live at Liverpool Cathedral tunes, Fools Like Us, Rust and History Chimes are on this.
I expect we will have to wait for the 10th Anniversary edition for the full set list. Sometime in 2023 / 2024, which will be a nice Pre Pension top up for Mac.
One thought would have been great if he had got Liz Fraser to duet on Candleland, read she did a gig recently.

Mojo reviewer wrote:Back in 1984 Mac somewhat prematurely recorded a version of Rat Pack fave September Song; nearly 30 years on, his magnificent grandstanding baritone has acquired the nicotine-edged patina of a life lived, an evolution that, on the "orchestral reworkings" disc here, redrafts Bunnymen jewels such as Bring on the Dancing Horses, The Killing Moon and 2010s the Idleness of Gods as mature meditations, oozing hard-gained wisdom and careworn beauty, that survive the absence of guitarist Will Sergeant. On new albm Pro Patria Mori, not every song is strong enough to frame The Voice in its increasingly stately phase, but the sparse, haunting Different Trees, the grandiose title track and sumptuous Bowieesque Watch Me Land befit inclusion in the Mac canon, and the artlessly autobiographical Me and David Bowie is funny and touching in equal measures. Reassuring then that McCulloch is back doing what he does best: singing pearls.

Is it Idleness or Idolness
Maybe Idleness of the reviewer.
Noticed in Amazon the Live at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is available on CD. Post pledge stock

Hate to admit it but I'm really digging this version of the Killing Moon from Holy Ghost

With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

The song by itself is a favourite, sadly for the album I can't be that positive ?

I like The Fountain and Idolness much better when Ian does them live/solo than on the recording however The Fountain was great at recent Dublin Bunnymen show.....

Must admit that The Fountain live at a Buns show is pretty good, now that a certain Mr Sergeant is able to add a few flourishes.

Best live performance I've heard off the album is Shroud of Turin, by a mile.
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'
