The Bunnymen were in superb form last night and Ian's voice was fantastic ! They went
down very well with the crowd considering they were a support act.

They swapped the order of do it clean and villiers?Seriously until they start functioning as a proper band again I've got little interest in seeing them unless they play Stockholm.Sad after all these years but really the monotony is too much.Much prefer mac gigs these days and I'm still prepared to travel to see him.
Poltergoost reminds me of seeing Bunnymen mk 2 playing to ever decreasing numbers.great to see les back but really come on its not going anywhere is it ?

They've really just been their own tribute band for years now.

well clearly sergeant is not that interested in numbers and is more interested in doing what he wants - which is how it should be I say. And he has been relatively prolific over the last year - three albums (whether you like them or not) is a significant body of work, plus the paintings etc, he must be having three or even more weetabix fro breakfast these days. So where I'd close the curtains if mac was playing inthe back yard I'd travel all the way to london (and thats nearly 50 miles) so take a listen to sergeant's noodlings. And anyway its a different situation to MKII buns - they still had a kind of momentum going then and a relatively good selling album to follow, so diminishing numbers was a fairly significant thing. Buns MkIII are now playing to ever diminishing numbers, or support slots or festivalk slots, because all momentum is lost, Mac can't get an interview anywhere apart from online sites run by fans, and even then he trots out the same old shite - no wonder the NME/Q/Mojo dont give a toss cos he's got nothing to say. That albums insipid bollocks and all he can do to prop it up is tart up a live recording of old bunnies songs. bah.

I will give odds of 10/1 that there will be no New bunny album out by the end of 2013

I will also give odds of 25/1 that if and when one emerges will still sound like a Mac Solo.

Mac must be quite unsettled - Poltergueist are getting better rewiews than his stuff.

I Will give you odds of 50 to one that poltergeist minus a singer will not get anyone interested in a second album.instrumentals and the same effects Wills be using for years.plus i sent him a pm à while back and the bastard ignored me lol

This was a support slot so I guess they have to play safe on the set list......and
when bashing them about playing safe with the set lists don't forget that they have fairly recently given us the whole of Ocean Rain, Crocodiles and Heaven up Here.... I don't really know what some of you want (except a creatively interesting new Bunnymen album and Les back in the band and we all want those things).....

I suppose we all just want a varied set list of the old stuff and some killer new stuff
too.....

What do we expect?a band that actually writes new songs,a band that having rehearsed three albums may actually think of dropping them into a setlist,a band that meet up more than to turn in the same old set on stage ,a band that creatively is a band ,a band that still gives back to the fans .....if you are happy paying shitloads of money to see the same show then good luck to you but I for one want the name of the Bunnymen to go out on a high.

What have we got now?A singer that calls the guitarist a c**t,two 53 year old men fucking about with Electrafixion cast offs in H and M kagouls, another live album from Mac and a bunch of fans happy to hear the same set as nauseum.Even fucking Status Quo seem more vital .

You know wabbit I was there when they mattered and it's painful at the moment

Keep yer wig on Dave!.... I think that is basically what I said but in a less shouty way
;-)
The reason I go see them loads is because I enjoy it (in all it's forms Mac solo, Poltergeist, Bunnymen and I make no apologies for that) and I too adore them (even though I was not lucky enough to have been there in the early days. I don't think you have to be an early fan to be a 'real' fan with a 'real' opinion that matters)........However, as they mean so much to me I also want to see them go out on a high. I do understand and agree with what you said.

However, I do genuinely like the Poltergeist, Things Inside, Some of Pro-Patria Mori albums and the gigs for those albums have been good (mostly).

Let's hope there is still 'light on the water, and they can sail on forever'....

Ever the optimist....

ere Shaz, you're forgetting sarge had writing credits, played most of if not all the instruments and produced the eva petersen album - which is more than on the last buns album. PLus theres the whole performance thing with poltergeist, not to mention les doing his les groove thang whilst simultaneousluy playing the bass. I mean theres a possibility I enjoyed it more than i thought I was going to because I'd been to a leaving do fron work on my way to the venue so was ready for anything

And thanks dave, for planting the elctrafixion seed in my brain, listened a bit on the way to work this morning and kept thinking, hmm, sounds a bit like lowdown, hmm sounsd a bit like [insert name of a fixion song i cant remember the name of]... and so it went on.
