General discussion about the band, live shows, its recordings or bootlegs, etc. You can buy, sell or trade here. You can even post eBay links. If it's about the Bunnymen, it goes here.

does anybody know the story behind "villiers terrace"? there's a place in lydbrook, up the road a little ways from rockfield where echo and the bunnymen recorded. curious if the song is a reference to that spot, or just coincidence.

wasn't there a pub or something called the villiers? its in one of the books I think. Only the box set to hand and doesn't mention that. Just a typoical Mac comment saying he didn't like the album version (Peel sesion version was much sexier) and 'the lyrics sounded like they were about this mad place, and people always asked where it was. It was our Strawberry fields. Its also the greatest drug song thats actually a non-drug song'.

so there, much clearer.

I know that this place was pretty sad when they went to register a domain name and I had it.

Those windows do nothing for me.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

There's a pub called Villiers Terrace in north London, I seem to be on their email list, never actually made it up there though

I always thought it was about the Villers pub in Liverpool City Centre.

thats my understanding where the name came from. In Chris Adams' book there are two quotes, one from early on saying it was this mad party etc etc and then another from the 90s giving the Hitler story (which ihis brother apparently told him).

The subject matter of the song seems like something Joy Division would cover. I read interview where will said initially they really looked upon them for inspiration. Although he didn't go into much detail. I doubt Mac would admit to that as he never includes them as an influence in his interviews.
I know they later toured with them (New Order), but I'm curious if the knew each other or played on the same bills in the late seventies.
Both great bands but nazi's suck.
