Worst Gig/Event You've Ever Been To?

Worst gig/event you've ever been to?

Anglia For Africa at Earlham Park in Norwich, August 1986. Headlined by Amazulu!
Also featuring Hawkwind, Dean Friedman (yes the same guy that Half Man Half Biscuit wrote a song about), The Supremes (without Diana Ross obviously) and a load of rubbish local bands. I think I've still got the programme somewhere. It was a benefit concert promoted as the East of England's very own Live Aid except they couldn't get any decent bands to play. I saw some footage of the (non)event on You Tube the other day and it sounded just as shit as I remember it.

Robin Trower at the Royal Court in Liverpool, about 79/80 (can't remember exactly), absolute cack, we only lasted for half the gig then we walked out and went to the pub.
I didn't want to go in the first place but my mate was moaning he had no-one to go with. Bastard.

SPACEHOG with Tracey Bonham
Feb. 16, 1996 Lee's Palace, Toronto

I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I guess I was thinking Spacehog might provide a Jam/Weller, or, at the very least, a World Party, type experience. Wrong.

A mere 16 for me I'm afraid, between Mac solo and the Bunnymen. Also saw The Wild Swans a couple of times with Will and Les onstage. Best gig, probably the Empire in January '88, and of the recent shows the Philharmonic Hall a couple of years back was a cracker.

hmmm, absolute worst, not sure. Lots of not so goods. 70s - Leeds University two or three times went to gigs where main band didnt turn up, one was dire straits another was bebop deluxe and on one of them support - doctors of madness - were awful. Long wait before they decided to tell us the main band weren't coming when we cvould have been in the pub. Rory Gallagher wasn't bad as such but two hours of 'heres another blues song with a very long solo in the middle' eventually takes its toll. 80s - Imperial College all nighter, that band weller had signed to his label (the squares?) were dire (though it being an all nighter we could have gone and stood at a bar somewhere for a very long time, or watched a badly projected film, or pulled faces at the rugby team who were perfoprming bouncing duties, U2 at Elland Road, rattle and hum tour were awful - up to that point they'd never been less than really quite good, but they were rubbish. plus - no bar, no beer allowed in. rattle and hmmmmm tour if you ask me. 90s - Took the former mrs FC (nineties line up, obv) as a special treat to see whitney houston, was fairly crap though it might have been to nob sitting next to me twirling his light stick round and tound in my face. Witney wasn't that bad really (if you like that kind of thing), though if you take away the time for costume changes she only played fro about ten minutes,

Worst would have to be Michael Jackson back in 1996 at an outdoor concert. The reason being the sound not him directly.Had reasonable seats middle of stage about 40 meters/ yards.in the middle of the ground.
The wind kept 'blowing' the sound away such that you couldn't hear a thing, music or speech at times.I don't know what the sound was like in the outer ground stands.

Of a single band at a festival would have to STILL say Neds Atomic Dustbin- could not find a redeeming feature about them.
The problem with self improvement is knowing when to quit.

buns fought and lost that battle at finsbury park supporting new order. That was a bit of a grim day, rain rain rain and then, as if by maguic rain stops and sun comes out two minutes before NO delivered a cracking set. Front efw rows suffered a bit too as every few minutes the wind blows the canopy over the front of the stage and drenches them in gallons of, well, rain.

2004 Coachella. I went to see the Flaming Lips and the Cure and the Lips were beset with technical difficulties so all they had time for was "Race for the Prize", an anti-George Bush rant and getting the crowd to sing happy birthday to Beck's unborn child. Then the Cure came on and man it was fuckin' bad which was strange cause I saw them a short time later at Curiosa and they killed it that night.

Best gigs were Reigning Sound, anything Frank Black, Mac solo, Depeche Mode, Morrissey before he became a grumpy old emo and Front 242.

Every time I see an LA Morrissey gig coming up I think of Billy and a tear rolls down my cheek.

Seeing the Damned again next month. They always put on a good show and Vanian's voice gets better with age.

You need to invest in some disposable underwear.

It's getting worse and worse.

Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, February 26. However, he cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests. Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.

Get over yourself you old hag.
