I haven't a clue how many times I've seen them it would run into a good few hundred.... Put it one way I never missed a Bunnymen UK concert from Dunfermline in April 1982 to their last UK concert in Belfast in 1988 before the original split......

Great memories and some amazing concerts.......

Easy......

Glasgow Barrowlands January 16th 1988..........

Mac often quotes this as the bands finest concert, playing an iconic concert venue to a record crowd of over 3,500 fans in a venue with a crowd limit of 2,100...... I have never seen them play better than they did that night, ironically that short UK tour in January '88 were some of the best Bunnymen show's I ever saw, during a time where the band were virtually disintegrating.........

For those of you who didn't read this post on 'Over the Wall', here it is once more:

A mere 16 for me I'm afraid, between Mac solo and the Bunnymen. Also saw The Wild Swans a couple of times with Will and Les onstage. Best gig, probably the Empire in January '88, and of the recent shows the Philharmonic Hall a couple of years back was a cracker.
Purveyor of the 'semi-predictable one-liner (which) embodies the essence of the type of comedic crap we grew to love here. VB is a crazy fool'

First got to see them on their first tour of Australia at the end of 1981 and If we are counting "Reverberation" era 3x - which I have always thought was way better than what Mac was doing solo at the time,Mac solo '92,then 2x in 2001,1x 2003 and last 2x 2010.
Would have been more if the buggers made the effort to come and tour more often.
The problem with self improvement is knowing when to quit.

Including Mac solo I've seen them probably 7 times. The only person/band I've seen more is Frank Black and his various bands.

Jimbo's tally is fuckin' impressive.
With the Force as his ally he did battle with the Dark Lord. And he showed the measure of a true Jedi at a place called "The Death Star" where hope for the Galaxy was reborn. May all who struggle against tyranny hold his memory in their hearts

handful more than VB but insignificant compared to smiff & jimbo. And a fair few more than is respectable according to the present mrs FC. The one at the hammersmith palais just after the york gig was good i seem to remember.

I've only seen them once (Evergreen) as well as Electrafixion once. Both incredible shows. Too young in the 80's to have seen them. Glad I caught them in the 90's with Les as opposed to now. Pretty much have no desire to see them today.

The 3 songs that really stood out and totally rocked my socks off -

- Villiers Terrace
- Lips Like Sugar (when done right live this song is about a thousands time better than the album version. Totally rocks.)
- Holy Grail

Jimbo, that tally is amazing--you lucky bar steward!

I'm probably about 50-ish--including Mac & Prodigal Sons, Mac-less Bunnys with Noel Burke in a bizarre venue in Glasgow, Electrafixion at King Tuts, Mac solo etc.

For all the negativity about same old set-lists etc, don't think there's been a bad one in last 5 years- in fact, most of them have been great, a couple super-great. Missed the meltdown show , obviously

Barras show in '88 was killer--its a shame nobody plays there that much anymore

Jimbo, you are a legend!

I've probably saw them about 40/50 times first time in 1980, Grangemouth (Home of Cocteau Twins, who I seem to recall were in attendance at the gig) prior to Crocodiles being released.

Favourites would include the one mentioned above, Barrowland shows, Dunfermline 82 and Glasgow Tiffanys 82 when promoting Porpcupine.

Happy times.....

I've seen the Bunnymen twice both in 1985. First at Drums over the Mersey in January and then in December at the Royal Court. Saw Mac just the once at his "comeback" at the Blue Coat Chambers in 1989 I think.

Not really bothered about seeing them again though Poltergeist in York sounds interesting.

Only three times.

Leeds Futurama 1979, with Echo and no drummer.

Bradford Uni 1980 supported by the Blue Orchids, the Bunnymen were great, the Blue Orchids were better. I later read that the band's management wanted the BOs kicking off the tour because they were too good but band wouldn't stand for it.

Leeds Futurama 1980,

Sometime in 1980 I also went to see them at Cleopatra's in Huddersfield, it was a reggae/rasta club. When i got there the bloke on the door told me it was off, the band had fucked off because their cables weren't long enough. Possibly shite, I don't know.

I was so close to going to the Buxton gig but would have been alone as my mates wouldn't go to gigs, they preferred to hit town chasing lasses. I occasionally hitched home alone after late finishes in deepest West Yorkshire whilst the Ripper was still at large. Obviously being a lad made you feel safe enough.
