From the Newcastle Brown Ale Facebook page:

"From the country that brought you British food comes a delicious beer to wash away the taste of British food"

Newcastle used to be my go to beer for a while. Is that like Bud Light for you UK fellas?

Used to be my beer of choice when playing drinking games as it was flat and easier to down than lager. Next morning though, bloody hell, I swear you could tar the road with the proceeds.

tipple of choice when I was too young to get served in pubs and my mate Rob* was the only one who could get served in the local off license. Believe its got more taste than the average bud, but then I havent had it for 30 or so years. Wasn't it newcastle brown that had 'and now your favourite beer' adverts? Must be on the youtube somewhere.

Chez

*6ft 2 when he was 13 - i dont think he looked any older than the rest of us but the bloke in the off-license either thought that he must be 18 (we were about 15 at the time) if he was that tall or, more likely, that would be suitable defence if the rozzers raided one day. Me, I still got chucked out of pubs when I was 18.

I didn't start drinking till I was in my mid 20's or a bit later so I went to a bar next to my office and asked for a Bud Light. That's all I saw on TV so I didn't know any better. So the female bartender says to me in a very derisive tone "Bud Light is for pussies" instantly making my penis shrink and brought me a Newcastle instead which was the beginning of a beautiful friendship with my bartender and Newcastle.

Lately I've been drinking a lot of IPA beers and (God help me) wine.

On the rare occasions I did drink in my youth our go to guy for purchasing the beer had a full beard at age 12.

McEwen's Export was another favourite of underage drinking days. I actually liked that, as opposed to pretending to like most things just to be part of the gang.

And then theres the legendary watneys party sevens (for parties only, obviously).

its a wonder we didn't all end in the gutter.

When I did drink in high school it was this God awful beverage Lucky Lager but it was cheap and did the job.

I like this description of it:

This beer really can only be seriously judged after a 15 pack

lucky doesn't usually like the traditional sipper style judge.

this beer needs to be guzzled by a thirsty soul after a hard days work.

so for the average office worker you might want to shy away, this beer is too much for you.

did you just split 2 chord of wood?
here is your opportunity to end the day perfectly.

as you turn another one upside down for a job well done.

heres to you and your lucky.

It was Little Kings in my youth. Little 7 ounce green bottles of cream ale. Perfect for guzzling quick. Throw a case in the back seat and drive around in the suburbs with your buddy listening to Zeppelin and Rush. Yessir. Good times.
