Weapons grade drama queenery of the highest order here. So, they've agreed to play to some packed out venues for a month? What the fuck should they do? Turn it down cos a few bell ends on here don't like James?

Get a grip.

My mom? You've been hanging around the Americans for too long. I wasn't shouting, by the way.

At the end of the day it isn't going to change my life one iota if they tour with James; I'll still be there to watch them at Christmas like the bell-end I surely am.

Still, who'd have thought it....supporting James....

I don't think the Bunnymen can fund their own tours anymore since they have no label support and can't fill bigger venues to make it worthwhile. Even when they were touring for Siberia it was about a 3 week tour in the US in much smaller venues than say the Evergreen tour. Sad but that's how it is now.

So their albums don't really sell and they can't afford to tour, they must surely be in it for the love of music alone.

Don't suppose it would go down too well if they called them the "mediocre" James or the "not really that good" James or the "steaming pile of horse-shit" James would it.

The Psychedelic Furs seem to tour endlessly as headliners with no new material and put on great shows I think mainly due to the fact that Richard Butler has kept in great shape.

The reason some fans like me have perhaps over reacted is that to me James are the
complete antithesis of the Bunnymen.their fans fucking sit down at concerts whereas if Mac demanded that someone would lob a drink at him.And their describes the difference.Plus with the age of us fans now if we sat down on a hard floor we'd never get back up again

theres alot of sitting down at mac gigs these days and he gets them chucked out if they so much as lift a cheek to drop a silent one. That apart...... Before I met the present Mrs FC I went out with a woman for a brief period - looked a bit like tracey from the primitives does these days. She was quite shocked that I even had somethign called 'a favourite band'. She'd probably be high;y amused by this conversation. Just saying. Sadly (or not - certain amount of control freakery was involved that didn't sit well with my free spiritery, lol) didn't last. Speaking of the prims, theres an interview on their FB page with Trace - all in spanish and without an interpreter. How cool is that?

In that interview I just read with eldrich he said that they dont release records any more because you can't make money out of it and because he never finishes them anyway (or something) and that the only way to make money was gigging. Dont know how often they do that but I haven't seen them up flyposting up the cowley road in Oxford recently. Gedge also does it, though thats very much a cottage industry - does his opwn merch stand etc and probably the worst quality tee shirts I've seen. Good gig saturday night. I even had an argument with a bouncer. great night.

But I'd sit down for the bunnymen if they had it at a nice, comfortable venue and not the crappy Academy. I've only sat down twice in my bunnymen career, both at the philharmonic.

How long will the bunnymen set be at this James thing? A couple of places refer to it as kind of a joint gig, while others say the bunnymen are very special guests. Will they get equal time or will the bunnymen do half an hour and James two hours?

Not that I'm thinking of going. Couldn't be arsed going to Manchester.
