Zeppelin Reunion

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

never liked the led zeps much, all that wailing and a howlin, though I was subjected to it throughout the 70s from my mates (especially andy, the only one with a car, we could have a lift home but only if we listen to stairway for the 50th time this week, at top volume, natch). Having said that I've heard both page and planty being interviewed over the years and they're always interesting and down to earth about it all. They are probably right not to talk about the 'legend' and erm, underage groupies etc, though recent revelations accusations and shenangigans surround the late sir james saville OBE indicate that not talking about might not save their gravestones from being demolished.

"But, Plant points out, the music still holds its power because it has not been overused: it doesn't represent anything but itself. "Because we haven't gone out and flogged it, there's an anticipation and a memory of it being clean and pure and not part of some sort of threshing middle-aged circus, which I think is very much to our credit. If we'd been part of the merry-go-round year after year, or every two years, I think it might have damaged everything."

he has a good point but the guys in Zep must have made tons of money on the first round to not have to keep selling off songs and doing excessive reunion shows.

on a completely unrelated note. My bro (5 years older than me so no spring chicken) is a middle aged hippy, more or less. Well he grew his hair long in the early nineties and its been that way since. Grew a beard and that comes and goes with his beardy moods. Less hippyish is he likes his designer label threads (though calling them threads is a bit hippyish, but thats me not him). Anyway he works for the red cross so is overseas alot of the time and we only catch up once or twice a year, but when we go out he always gets attention. Me and my mate and him are leaving this bar and bunches of youngish girlies are pointing at him. I'm imagining they are saying "look at that scruffy old git there, why doesn't he get his hair cut and slip into respectable old age like his well-to-do and better looking brother". But no they are smiling and chatting to each other excitedly - and then it clicks - they think he's someone famous. I suggest this over the next couple of pints and he, naturally insists its his natural charm and magnetism. Gets even worse later when young women actually come up and start talking to us, or rather, him. One even suggests I'm quite cute (what???) but "he's just got something about him". I say yes, a very nice girlfriend in san salvador where he lives most of the year - but she ignores me and continues perving over my brother. Anyways, the end of a not unpleasant night and we at least get a laugh when some bloke refers to him as father christmas. Mystery resolved a couple of weeks later when i pick up a copy of mojo or similar dad-rock magazine to see robert plant's or rather my bro's face staring out from the cover.

When i tell him this he's quite pleased, someone said he looked like billy connoly but the golden rock god has more kudos he believes. Anyway, thats it. When he's finished saving the world he'll be able to make a few bob as a plant looky-likey. Sadly he cant sing a note so no tribute band for him.

Chez.

Hmm ... I'm not sure it's much of a compliment, Plant's face looks like someone's been using it for origami practice lately!

It took nearly 5 years but I finally fixed the typo in the subject line of this thread.

Carry on.

Thank you, Mr. Brian. I was having seventh-grade jean jacket/pencil case flashbacks.

I wouldn't pay that sort of money for a ticket, unless it was a chameleons uk reunion.

Led Zeppelin return with new 'unheard' song after scouring vaults for unreleased recordings

"With physical music sales in apparently permanent decline, the industry is seeking to cash in on the purchasing power of older fans who are willing to buy deluxe versions of classic material."

From today's LZ articles in the Graun
Arguably the greatest ever question asked in a rock interview was posed by the American writer Chuck Klosterman to Robert Plant, asking about Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love.

"On Whole Lotta Love you say you’re going to give some girl 'every inch' of your love." Klosterman said. "But you’re British. Why don’t you use the metric system?"
