More info.... it seems the album was possibly recorded at Chapel Studios
I'm basing this on their clients list and the fact that it has been mentioned that it was recorded "in Lincolnshire".

Perhaps they were burnt on the Isle of Jura when The KLF destroyed their master tapes after leaving the music business, ha ha. Shortly before they did, Drummond said he wanted to sign Mac who was apparently without a deal at the time.
On the other hand, there was a story that Mac played the tapes for Rob Dickins(?) at WEA who wasn't impressed with the finished album and thought the demo version of the album was better. So there's two versions of the album, and surely the tapes in the "courier van" weren't the only copies.
Also, what's this thing about The Sun having a track you could listen to over the phone?
Moreover... Wiki articles now say the album had a working title of "Touch Down" (Touchdown was the original title of Too Far Gone, rembember), and there's this:
"25 Aug 1993
THERE'S A BUNNY THING Stuart Clark
IAN McCULLOCH is currently putting the finishing touches to a new solo album which The Christians' Henry Priestman, who's guesting on the sessions, describes as "by far and away the best stuff he's come up with since leaving Echo & The Bunnymen."
