tony fletcher's new book - the smiths

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

tony fletcher's new book - the smiths

Speaking of jonny marr, he's all over the latest mojo, in yet another 'untold story of the smiths' and because he's doing a solo album. The 'untold story' cobblers is a massive advert for tony fletcher's new book entitled 'another massive book about the smiths - but not written by that other bloke who writes books about the smiths'. Had a glance at it in HMV and interestingly it seems to end at the point the smiths end - so no tittle tattle about the court case or 21st century shenanigans - and thereby getting cooperation I guess by not saying anything nasty. Who knows, I only flicked to the end just to see what the ending, in fact, is. And.... spoiler alert.....they split up. Anyone actually read it?

No point now is there.

Oh, and by the way, you know the film 'Titanic'? There's a ship in it and it sinks.

less than wholly positive review here:

http://www.sabotagetimes.com/music/the-smiths-the-working-class-band-that-led-the-80s-rock-crusade/

Thats putting me off a bit - if he spends ages with prehistory and pontificating about what it all means I thnik I cant be bothered. Thats what annoyed me about rogan's book - loads about mozza's granny and to what end? I'd forgotten about fletchers tendency to do that.

Did I tell you the one about Morrissey being hit by a tsunami off the coast of Merseyside?

Can't find the clip right now but Morrissey just played on Conan in the US and I thought he sounded great. He has really taken care of his voice. He also came off as charming and funny when Conan came over to thank him. Too bad a certain someone I'll just call "Mac" doesn't sound like any of that.

I want Tarantino to do a Titanic movie and switch up history like he did with Hitler in "Inglourious Basterds". So instead of (almost) everyone dying on the ship, he could mash up Titanic and "The Love Boat", that cheesy show from the 70's!

I wish he would, as I think he could benefit from some. I watched some interviews that John Norris did with him before "The Fountain" came out, and Mac talked about how he likes to make people laugh. I can't say I ever thought about him like that.

I like the stuff of Morrissey's new songs so far. I've only heard them on his talk show rounds.
He was on Colbert the other night and seemed a bit flummoxed at times by Colbert's mock conservative routine but he was a good sport.
At one point Colbert egged him on about a Smiths reunion, Colbert then motions behind him and goes "ladies and gentleman Johnny Marr!" who of course was not there.
He also seems to not be a fan of the Royal Family who he referred to as horrible people and useless dictators.
The best part was when Colbert asked him about his vegetarian views. Morrissey said animals were nicer than people and we should not kill and eat them. Colbert poised the question, "what if I knew for a fact this lamb was a fucking asshole...could I eat him then? What if a pig heard one of your songs and committed suicide....would it be ok to eat him?" The answer was no. Again a good sport.
Then he played a new song, but I don't know the name.

Found the video after I typed all that...

understatement of the year right? He seems so anti-Royal Family, he might drop his militant vegetarian outlook temporarily if they could all be killed and served up at a big cookout.
