just back form probably the politest fezzie in the world, i.e., cornbury, just up the road. Pissed it down there too, but only intermittently. Slightly odd experience - going off without really wanting to see any of the bands on (Mrs FC's idea, and me, you know, anything to please the little lady) though Elvis Costello was on top form. He nearly got my vote just for being the only one not to say - "and on the piano and keyboards...." but then he went and did it ".... mister steve ni.....eve!!!!!!" and as t was him I l;et him off. Seasick steve was good (there was quite a bit of bluesy stuff on) if only for the fact that he and some hairy old bloke on drums both sat there swigging from wine bottles - there was the odd bottle of beer in evidence in bands but happily knocking back the vino was a step up. Though his music was better than i expected, like the white stripes would have souinded like if they were any good, never go west when you want to go south, i'd agree with that. Easrlier that afternoon nine below zero were also almost the band of the weekend. Loads of poppy crap on, all v talented obviously, ahem, james morrision, pixie lott, will young, none of em looked like they were going to throw a strop and walk off stage. Finally (almost), jools holland and his rythm and blues orchestra. what a twat. I'll admit to a bit of foot tapping but and wont deny he has a talent but the non stop grinning at the audience. not good. guest singers include some old age pensioner from jamaica who did his bit and then stood at the back looking like he'd ssomer be at home with a big fat spliff watching last of the summer wine, marc almond, who still cant sing but theres no denying his enthusiasm, and ruby turner who can sing and has more stage presence than the whole orchestra put together. and the most massive pair of bosoms you've ever seen. Finally some bonkers norwegian women called kattzenjammer would probably be the only 'find' and ones i'd recommend going and seeing.
Bored now......
Chez.
ps also the legendary, yes legendary steve winwood came on and did a couple with some band noone had heard of. he was quite good.
