No thanks to Dr Cheese, the Mac interview will be on shown on Arte this week.

À 13 ans, le jeune Ian McCulloch sait qu'il sera "le meilleur chanteur du monde" ! À 19, il balaie d'un revers de main la Beatles mania de Liverpool et succède à la vague punk avec son groupe Echo & the Bunnymen en 78. La recette du succès selon lui : avoir écrit "la meilleure chanson du monde", "Killing Moon" (1984), mais aussi ses cheveux et sa bouche ! Surnommé "Mc the Mouth", l'Anglais se fait une réputation de tête à claques et ne perd pas une occasion de cracher sur ses concurrents. Méchant lapin.

Schon mit 13 war Ian McCulloch fest davon überzeugt, dass er einmal „der beste Sänger der Welt“ werden würde. 1978 gründete er im Alter von 19 Jahren die Postpunkband Echo & The Bunnymen. Den musikalischen Erfolg brachte ihm sein Song „Killing Moon“ (1984), laut McCulloch „der beste Song der Welt“. Doch seinen Ruf hat der bescheidene Brite nicht zuletzt auch seiner Frisur und seiner großen Klappe zu verdanken: „Mac the Mouth" gilt als unangenehmer Zeitgenosse, der gern über seine Konkurrenten herzieht.
