Am I the only one put off by their not recording new material and mining the oldies circuit?

I don't care if they do the greatest hits circuit. At least they mix it up and don't do Love My Way and Pretty in Pink for the encores. They barely played any songs after Mirror Moves. Just two I think.

See I think they need to risk putting a shitty album out there. As much as I make fun of the Bunnymen they're trying to get new material out there. It's hit and miss but they;re taking a risk however small you may see it.

That's why I will not see the latter day Pixies until they're touring a new album but will never miss a Frank Black show.

If they can come up with the time to write the material and then come up with money for the studio time, producer, a quality engineer, mixing, mastering in at least three formats and promotion for new material then they should do it.

Otherwise, why waste time and money they do not have on music no one is going to listen to?

Richard and Tim's post Furs band Love Spit Love put out two albums that no one bought. Richard Butler put out a solo album that no one bought. (sound familiar?)
I think they recorded a couple of singles in the last ten years that coincided with a live album or greatest hits package but that's about it.

Richard Butler is a painter and has done exhibitions, etc. Maybe he just chooses to express himself that way and just work hard on keeping the Furs legacy alive by working at putting on great shows with his brother and some hired guns. I imagine that touring and royalties from the back catalog is where the money is anyway.
