Rush

We know there is more to life than the music of the Bunnymen. Talk about those other bands here.

Rush

They're stopping in my town in Oct., and yes, I'm going. I'm taking my 13 yr. old son who is a huge fan.

I used to like Rush back in the day, I saw them in Liverpool on the Hemispheres tour when I was but a callow youth, unfortunately they went a bit cack a couple of albums later and I stopped listening to them. Whenever I hear Geddy Lee's voice nowadays I always marvel that I used to take them seriously!

"Signals" is my favorite album of theirs (yeah, I know it's ancient), and their new single is really good. I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Geddy, but their music is phenomenal. My son is a drummer, and he's a huge Neil Peart fan. The thing I like about them is that they're talented musicians rather than rock stars.

Xanadu is still one of my favourite songs of all time but don't tell anyone, it'll ruin my street cred.
I haven't listened to any of their stuff since Signals, I remember being a bit disappointed by it and just binned them off, fickle bastard that I was! A track will come up occasionally on shuffle on my ipod but it's rare that I last all the way through before hitting the skip button.

The Rush documentary Beyond the Lighted Stage is pretty good. It came out a couple of years ago. I got to see them on the Signals tour. I guess that was about 1982. My friends teenage boy can't stop talking about them. He is quite obsessed and will always find a way to work in a Rush reference in a conversation.

I used to have a Sony mp3 player that had a setting that would play random snippets from songs until you found one you wanted to listen to, I think it was called the "zap" function, it was brilliant, it was my default listening mode for ages. Well until I dropped it into a bucket of water anyway.

I met Geddy Lee in an elevator in Toronto. Nice guy. He was with a beautiful woman, going to the penthouse.

I'm not surprised. While he is not a stud, it's obvious he's intelligent, which is an attractive quality. Besides, super hot guys are always assholes (or gay), so in the end, the nice ones are the way to go.
