Yeah that old chesnut ...... if you like Will's stuff you are intelligent and a proper music lover whereas if you like Mac solo stuff you are a shallowendysuperfan...

What if you like both?? What are you then ;-)

the original mention was "Most of his solo stuff sounds like songs without a singer rather than a cinematic journey into time and space."

don't really think you have to be labeled as anything specific to like the music. i think we were just speaking of 'transcending' into instrumental music, if you will. i would quote some new mac lyrics here but i can't understand any of them from the paralytic ramblings that he's doing on 'em.

Not really--she's listed as one of the pledgers. Like me. No one knows my real name here, though. :hitmyself:

thats only true of curvature of the earth. Space age freakout, performance, themes for grind, the fishy one and the other one, I think even a lyricist or and singer of Mac's quality would have difficulty in making into a song as such. Space age freakout is kind of self consciously spacey, hence the title i suppose, but it works for me. Borders on genius melodically in places - cosmos and space van spring to mind.

probably has something about the world spinning round in there. Though theres still the odd gem - words to whatever you want are quite good in places but elsewhere onthat album they are attrocious. Words to Love i nVeins are kind of throw away and obvious but that one does work - go figure.

That's why the Bunnymen work. It's just like the Velvets with Reed / Cale.

It isn't raved about except by the few of us here.

Only a few of us know he puts out music. We are the 1%.

Tis true, there's what... maybe four people. And it's more interesting than recent Bunnymen output or Mac's solo effort. The latter I stand to be corrected when it comes out and someone raves [or doesn't] that there are a few songs that are belters (and that cannot come from anyone who'd get excited if it was an album full of acoustic tracks featuring Mac gargling TCP, although that in itself could be an interesting album concept). Even Slideling had a few decent songs at the time that might have been better if done as the Bunnymen brand.
