Anyone read Mac's article in the latest Mojo....i mean in it's full entirety? Disgraceful.

Better off that Will has his own Facebook page which of course, wasn't announced on the Bunnymen page ever.

Something about Mac reckoning he wrote more than 50% of the Bunnymen's stuff, and was fuming when Will suggested on Bill Drummond's recommendation that the band got a four-way split in song writing credits or something like that. Called Will something or other (??). I read the article the other day while waiting for a train, but only read part of it, giving up as soon as Mac started warbling on about Chris Martin again. Rare occasion I read anything about the Bunnymen these days. But it appeared to have a lot of the same old regurgitated material we have read in the last decade. Maybe someone else can enlighten you to the exact contents of the interview.

It's a bunch of paralytic ramblings as per usual. Thinks/calls Will a "c*nt" from earlier days (a compliment is later present). Calls the band "Echo & the Bogusmen." Also goes on to say he's 'not arsed' about the crowd. More paralytic ramblings then luckily the article is over.

Those guys should all quit and leave him stranded. Anyone want the article, PM me and I'll send you a copy.

Where did your beef with Will originate?

Very early on, we played live down in London, and Neil, his brother, who was living down there, came along. Will came up to me afterwards saying, "Our kid reckons you're gonna leave soon and go solo." Er, what? I still think, the fact that I can remember it being said means that Will must, too. He came to me soon after that, and said, "me and Bill Drummond, we've decided that songwriting credits should all be four ways." We? What meeting? You talked about something involving me, without me? It was a done deal, fait accompli. I remember thinking that made Will a cunt. I always wrote the lyrics and the melody lines - 50 percent of the songs.

How, and why, did you get back together
again with Will?

I got phone calls off a couple of friends, saying,
“Mac, l think you and Will should talk”—
because we hadn’t spoken for more or less five
years, and I just thought, Yeah... Even then it
was hard work— having a song like Nothing
Lasts Forever pretty much complete to play to
them, and waiting for Les’s reaction — (silence,
then with withering indifference) “Dunno.” I’m
laughing me head off thinking, Fuckin’ hell! It’s
like Jesus asking the 12th fuckin’ disciple that
no one can remember the name of— like, Wes,
from Southport! “Uh, dunno’ But St. Bill and
St. Wes didn’t have a fuckin’ miracle, so. they
had part of mine. But once the seed was sown,
it was such an excitement. Making a cup of tea
as a Bunnyman was better than making a cup
of tea as me.

So, are you in a good place right now?


Yeah, definitely, but I’m also self-haunting, and
self-haunted. I am life-loving, but I can’t stop
— and don’t wanna stop—the voices in my head.
Because they’ve always been there. If they fuck

But you must realise that your partnership
works on many levels...

Yeah, totally. I always say, him and Mick
Ronson are my favourite two guitarists. Will’s
fantastic, but doing the Bunnymen, you need
a break from it, or at least I do. After a few
weeks any resentment or narkiness I might
have goes away. It’s not a love-hate thing,
because it’s 95 per cent love, but it’s good to
have that five per cent narkiness, because it
was always like that, there was always a funny
vibe between band members. I sometimes
actively encouraged it. It brought a spikiness.

I'm still a bit blown away by that article. It's not even like he was telling his mates about it in the pub. It's in print in a magazine.
