one of the first time i went to the US, in Boston I bumped into som bloke crossing the road and he said in this gruff kind of jimmy durante voice, get out of the way kid (I was about 30), and i thought, billiant, they talk just like they do on the telly.

When I got to New York for the Ocean Rain shows I was so excited to find out there really is that NY accent. I immediately called the missus and told her they really sound like New Yorker here. She's a world traveler so she was annoyed with my naivete. I was also shocked at how nice everyone I encountered was. I thought New Yorkers were supposed to be dick holes but I found that to be 100% not the case.

Oh and you guys are welcome for WWII. :wink:

And some people from England really do talk like the Geico Gecko that we see on tv here.
