You sad people, Get A life

“The mocker does not care to be reprimanded, he will not choose the wise for his companions.”

“The arrogant mock me without restraint but I do not turn from Your law.”

“You ignorant people, how much longer will you cling to your ignorance? How much longer will mockers revel in their mocking and fools hold knowledge contemptible

“Correct a mocker and you make an enemy, rebuke a wicked man, you get insult in return. Do not rebuke the mocker, he would only hate you, rebuke a wise man and he will love you for it”

Those aphorisms don't exactly flow off the tounge. What are they, translated from Chinese or something?

"He who mocks the mocker is the real mocker, but if you rebuke a rebuker then you insult the mocker who, in turn, mocks all rebukers and mockers alike. Furthermore, making an enemy of a rebuker (or a mocker, for that matter) creates only further rebukery and/or mockery. However (and this is key) mocking a wise man (or anyone disinclined, in general, to rebukes or mockery) is okay (exept as noted otherwise in Appendix A of this old saying)."
"He was a mongoose, rather like a little cat in his fur and his tail, but quite like a weasel in his head and his habits."
